Games with this art style just feel so devoid of creativity because the characters are "just a chimp" and "that cute Asian girl from my gym". The designs don't communicate what they do or what their deal is. It's like they looked at "casual fit" fanart and thought "THAT'S what the people want"

Not quite. Basically, a lot of coding tools these days now have smart auto-complete stuff that is "AI". But this CLARIFIES that they disallow generative AI use for content in the game, including art, music, VA etc. They had to clarify because people didn't agree which type of AI use was meant.

I have never touched this game but I know it is right next to Terraria in beloved indies that everyone gets at some point. My GF who is not even INTO GAMES asked me if we could try out Stardew Valley.

As a German, I always correct English speakers when they call the Hakenkreuz a swastika. Very different symbols. Calling it a swastika is already softening it for deniability. "Akshually, it was a symbol long before the Nazis Blabla" Nope. Not the same facing direction and stand angle.
