cyclingalps.bsky.social @cyclingalps.bsky.social · 07/08/2026Ventoux is an amazing mountain to cycle. Beyond it's unique higher landscape, I think the thing that makes it feel special is how it stand high, alone in the local environment. 1150

cyclingalps.bsky.social @cyclingalps.bsky.social · 15/07/2026I have lived in France for two decades and for the 1st time a TdF stage will go through my home village and climb my home mountain - stage 15. But sadly, I will be in Canada for family reasons. So here are a few photos of fun people I have met watching stages over the years: 3170
cyclingalps.bsky.social @cyclingalps.bsky.social · 14/07/2026I played a lot of football/soccer as a kid. Loved it. But I couldn't pretend to be in severe pain any time when fouled .... so I couldn't play in these modern times. 030
cyclingalps.bsky.social @cyclingalps.bsky.social · 13/07/2026Tomorrow is Bastille Day in France. Perhaps the biggest holiday of the year ... and France plays in the World Cup semi-final, and the Tour de France continues. Fireworks currently in my small French village. Vive la France. 3220

cyclingalps.bsky.social @cyclingalps.bsky.social · 09/07/20261/ I missed today's TdF stage. But I hope they discussed the amazing climbs above the finish. If they kept cycling they would have reached 2 paved passes higher than Tourmalet. cyclingalps.bsky.social @cyclingalps.bsky.social · 28/06/2026Will the Tour de France have “freshness breaks?” Race stops for three minutes every hour or so. Such a huge success in the World Cup … 3173
cyclingalps.bsky.social @cyclingalps.bsky.social · 24/06/2026My brother-in-law and his 2 sons are at the Canada Switzerland game. They are so excited. As good Canada fans, they are wearing red … like the entire stadium. Crazy that the Swiss get to wear red. :-). Go Canada, eh 140

cyclingalps.bsky.social @cyclingalps.bsky.social · 21/06/2026The Tour de Suisse climbs the Col de la Croix five times today (2x for the ladies and 3x for the men). Here is a plaque placed near the top of the col. It appears the route was opened in 1971? #TdS 240
cyclingalps.bsky.social @cyclingalps.bsky.social · 21/06/2026Today, the Tour de Suisse will climb Col de la Croix three times. Some version of Col de la Croix (Mountain Pass of the Cross) must be the most common name for mountain passes in Switzerland and France. I have cycled roughly 30 of them. 180

cyclingalps.bsky.social @cyclingalps.bsky.social · 29/05/2026The Dolomites is an amazing place for road cycling. My only advice: If possible, skip July/August as the roads can get crowded --- and far too many motorcycle groups (a curse of popularity).
