"The Ukraine" too. What an absolute clown. When he won the leadership I knew I was done with the party. Same as you, about 15 years as a Greens voter.

Just completely incompetent at dealing with the media. Which is confusing given how close she was/is with Dan. Andrews was a master at tackling misinformation and beatups. Often Jacinta seemed to be a deer in a spotlight. Her government achieved quite a bit, but you wouldn't know it. #auspol

The problem I have with all the CFMEU issues, is that Jacinta could have shut it down a lot easier if she wasn't so awkward. "Police have investigated, the union put into administration, members have been charged." All before the QLD report even came out. So simple.

Ben actually argued against replacing her in the lead up to an election and said it would negatively impact ALP's chances at re-election. He wanted the leadership change but not until after the election. Not sure what's happening honestly, will need to wait for a post-mortem. #auspol

I've been messing with some parallax and subtle movement to infiltrate reels on Instagram, as well as reclaiming some depth lost when viewing high res landscape photography on a phone. It's not perfect, but gets the job done maybe. What do you think? Nikon Z8 #photography #lanscapes #australia

I love takes like this from people who live in cities. These people vote in conservative councils for decades, who have turned them into backwaters. It's not the fault of any federal or state government. They drive away young people, tourists and anyone who would spend money or bother to build.

This election was a loss for the LNP and that's about it. Farrer is a conservative shithole of dying towns run by corrupt right-wing councils the locals vote in over and over again for decades. Facebook is almost singularly responsible for PHON's rise. Trying to intellectualize it is pointless.

Posting doesn't work. But there are people in the real world making a difference. It's a lot of hard work and a lot of student debt. But it's how I wake up every day motivated to keep fighting.

I try to not be a doomer. Sometimes I do feel like I've bargained down to: "When the first more than month-long heat dome hits India and Bangladesh and kills 200M people. Then society willl change" Which is not a great. But I have changed careers twice now to get closer to the issue. So I live it.

There's an old saying. "There are no Leftists on the Internet." They shut down our union and climate subreddits for no reason in 2020. On Instagram, Threads and Facebook your account's reach will be seriously reduced if you post union or climate-related information. Bsky is no different.

Hyper-online idiots like yourself are exactly why the Greens are pinned at 12%. You're all in this comment section getting mad at Albanese for something he hasn't said. Because none of you bothered to read the article. Time-wasted punching shadows. When confronted you change the subject.

Chris @cwdart.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
Ummm... Did anyone read the article? It says the exact opposite of what the headline says. It says the tax is being seriously considered but had been delayed due to other measures and there's only three weeks until the budget is released. Literally nothing in there that supports the headline...

There is zero reason to build anything outside more solar and wind. They are now the most cost-effective new sources of energy hands down. Especially here in Australia. We need to overule the moron NIMBYs blocking transmission. But we can also lighten the load by mandating home solar and storage.

"The next few months could be defining." No dude. If we cut all emissions today. The climate *might* start plateauing 40 years from now. The Guardian greenwashes just like the rest of them do. We need science communicators to start speaking out. We WILL hit +3C around 2050. If we want to

Make batteries here and electrify everything, subsidize the entire rollout. Gas extraction is dangerous and only contributes further to climate devastation. An in-home sodium ion battery rollout lessens dependence on the grid, reduces the need for costly upgrades and lowers emissions.

There are plenty of minerals that are needed for chips, batteries and advanced materials that we mine here. Including good ol' Iron Ore. We could certainly tax the raw exports while also building things from those raw materials and exporting those too. A successful green economy is possible.

Your post was "Lefties don't understand." But those service providers are full of "lefties." It's hard to be hard-right and hold a PHD. Or be a climate-denying analyst. Labor took the last election in a landslide while the Greens are hovering around 12%. Plenty of ALP voters are "Lefties."

Chris @cwdart.bsky.social · 15/04/2026
You have to. Mining companies employ outside contractors for everything. They make their decisions based on reports handed to them by contracted service providers. Omitting those service providers in this context makes absolutely no sense.
110
Chris @cwdart.bsky.social · 15/04/2026
Resource extraction alone directly and indirectly employs around 1 - 1.2 million Australians. Not factoring in the energy sector. That means roughly 1 in 10 working Australians Why would you not include engineering, surveying and testing? That is exactly who I am talking about in my opening post!
210
Chris @cwdart.bsky.social · 15/04/2026
Consultancies and contractors. Lots of those "Scientific and Technical Services" companies are working in resources and energy.

Chris @cwdart.bsky.social · 14/04/2026
Contrary to popular belief, Lefties aren't idiots. Many of us work, or have worked, in mining and energy. You know. Two of the largest employers of educated Australians. Which is why the Greens are pinned at 12%. What the media, social and otherwise, paints as "The Left," is unreality.

Too much newscorp propoganda. Victoria is hardly the "most violent state." But voters and governments keep drinking the slop, pushing the idea Melbourne is a post apocalyptic hell hole. It's a concerning trend that needs to stop. I travel by train to Sunshine frequently and never have any issues.

This is patently untrue. Of the asteroids we have mapped, we have analyzed the composition of less than 0.1% of them. If you're incapable of reasonable conversation, and prefer misrepresentation and grandstanding. You should return to coporate life perhaps and leave analysis to analysts.

Chris @cwdart.bsky.social · 07/04/2026
SOME asteroids are loose amalgams. Not all, others are solid rocky/metallic bodies. And of course any spin can cause them to fracture and break apart. Some degree of binding would be required regardless.

Wikipedia for the C130J has the cost at 68 million for the airframe... In 2008... They cost around 120M USD now. Australia has the cost listed for a single fitted C130J at 345M Aud. So I'm not sure where you're getting your numbers from. I'm not a newcomer to defense funding and airframe costs.

Multi-billion dollar investment in new C-130J Hercules aircraft - Australian Defence Magazine
The Albanese Government will purchase 20 new C-130J Hercules aircraft for the Royal Australian Air Force for $9.8 billion, expanding upon the 12 Hercules aircraft currently operated by Air Force.

Each C130 costs 100-120 million. The f15E costs around 100 million and the A10 costs around 18 million. That is the airframes, they then have multi-million dollar electronics fitouts. And they carry multi-millions in payload. Not including fuel and maintenance costs. So no, I'm low-balling.

Chris @cwdart.bsky.social · 05/04/2026
Yeah, a lot of "Kamala voters" on the socials today with the "I hate Hitler but we need to support the SS" vibes. 1x F15E, 2x C130s and 1x A10. Totalling about 500 million USD, before fitout. All lost at the taxpayer's expense. How's that student debt and healthcare going?
050
Chris @cwdart.bsky.social · 05/04/2026
Sorry I've been corrected. It was two C130s destroyed and also an A10 that was reported yesterday and part of this same operation. So ~500 million USD lost before factoring in payload.

Two hundred million dollars in taxpayer money up in smoke between the C130 and F15E, not to mention more dead civilians. And Americans are celebrating and posting about how embarassing this is for Iran, while they have no healthcare and crippling student debt?

Only in this instance Iran have the capability to lock down a small, specific airspace area. This is an extremely bad situation for the team stuck in place. Instead of one POW, Iran could end up with a few.
