i think its also the fact that malls are indoors - its controlled and sterile, but if you have an outside marketplace in a dense urban environment, it puts commerce and livelihood closer to each other even smaller farmers markets are still out in nature, there's side activities, people hanging, etc

from what ive heard from a friend whos actually read him, his research on fetishes/paraphilias is actually pretty good, the trans stuff though is his biggest problem
