Two, new tome covers are finally making their debut this weekend at #FWA. One is a turquoise/pale blue & medium brown dragonscale cover, the other is a deep green & dark brown royal patina cover. Both were a blast to make & I cant wait to see them find homes. #leather #furry #furryart

Handmade leather journal cover tooled in the fashion of a classic, dragonscale tome. The medium brown cover is detailed with finely tooled, angular-themed borders and has pale blue and pewter metallic painted accents. The main imagery panels on the cover faces depict weathered dragon scales in a mottled variety of turquoise, pale blues, and pewter. The edges of the cover are handsewn with a lighter, medium brown thread.

The interior of the dragonscale tome cover. Lined with dark brown lamb or pigskin, it holds a loose leaf pocket on the left side, tooled with the same border pattern as the exterior, and a sleeve pocket on the right side to hold one's journal insert. This one current holds a sketchbook insert.

Similar layout to the dragonscale, but decorated with different tooling designs, this tome cover is bordered with more curving designs and cornered with flowers, all painted with dark green, bronze, gold, and pale yellow accents. The main imagery panels on the covers show an intricately tooled design in my "royal patina" pattern in deep green, with gold, bronze, dark green, and pale yellow accents.

More than anything I'd say so your homework on glass sources. Casting with recycled cullet could be neat and low risk, but using it for larger production risks projects breaking from incompatibilities before they've even had the chance to anneal.

As far as the price goes, for soft glass I see a price of about ~$100 USD for 50 lbs of production cullet Suppliers vary, but that's the price I found from my shop and they tend to be pretty on par with the market as a whole. 4/

The benefit of premade cullet from the stores is that they're a specific formula so incompatibilities don't exist on that end and the working properties are consistent. Unfortunately when it comes to batches of recycled glass, that benefit is lost even with similar colors. 3/

So you'd need to make sure bottles were essentially single source before making cullet, as well as ensure that they're compatible with the Coefficient of Expansion (CoE) of whatever the artist is using it for. 2/

So for context: I'm a borosilicate torch worker, so my glass is different than traditional softer glasses you'd see people working to larger scales. As far as recycled glass goes, one thing I understand is that they vary in formula, even in the same color 1/
