I'm an Autistic individual who rediscovered an interest in science during the pandemic. I'm interested how our cumulative exposures may drive chronic disease in us, our parents, in animals and possibly effect zoonosis. #Exposomics

I think attending a science conference on certain topics would be amazing.

We need to stop taking a siloed approach to medication and exposure too. Medication that we don't even trial across different physiologies to start with.

Yin to the Yang. Different baselines even inherited epigenetic differences. It starts to stack.

Thanks for replying. I guess your work just inspired the artwork. I'm interested in how our exposome influences cells or down generations through epigenetics.

@drmichaellevin.bsky.social have you commissioned any short films. I recently visited Keiken and I'm trying to track down a video that caught my attention. Perhaps your work was just their inspiration.

I think it's quite apt that Zelensky means Green and they keep blowing up oil refineries. Vladimir, Volodymyr can mean ruler of the world, ruler of peace.

From the most basic principle of discovering fire, we knew it came with inherited harm but we couldn't do without it. We've continued on these lines, only we've become better at hiding the harms. But by doing this, we cling to things longer than we should. We suppress progress for comfort. #Exposome

There is a contrived effort now to diminish autism and ADHD struggles. Not because they are not there but because it's become inconvenient it's become unaffordable. We would like the money for something else. We also don't want to take responsibility for altering biology. History tells us this.

It becomes more interesting considering night and indoor spaces. Fossil fuel use diversity and emissions, artificial fertiliser etc. environmental policy changes.

Chemicals and viruses are fascinating. They can impact our immune system and enhance inflammation over reaction. But even the air composition is interesting. Salt formation, UV shielding, pH changes. It can give one pathogen a fitness advantage. Ammonium sulfate is interesting. #Exposome

Air pollution has been linked to non smoking lung cancer but I suspect there's more. Especially, the digestive system. Either direct, oxidative stress or helping pro cancer gut bacteria thrive will harming helpful ones. Are we calculating risk right, from combined exposures and combined avenues.

We really need to stop using folic acid and active folate interchangeably. Let's have a trial with both and air pollution. We should also remember air pollution produces an effect in the body. The same effect can be made by many things. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29120534/

If repair enzymes repeatedly nick the DNA strands close together without successfully patching them, the chromosome physically breaks apart

Stalled Repair & Chromosome Breakage: When cellular repair enzymes attempt to fix these errors, the lack of incoming nutrients causes the repair process to stall or fail.

Not everyone likes folic acid. In comes Folate Receptor alpha Antibodies. Folate is required to turn uracil into thymine (a core building block of DNA). When FRα antibodies cut off the folate supply: Uracil Misincorporation: The cell mistakenly substitutes uracil into DNA where thymine should be.

Valproate is indeed interesting no wonder scientists use it. Also depleting folate needed for reversing things. Anyway let's add some more folic acid instead of dealing with other causes and damage instigation.

HDAC inhibitors certainly are interesting. Unshielding DNA, causing gene chaos, certainly a two if not a 3 hit scenario if you include oxidative stress. I wonder what other things achieve this unshielding. #Exposome

Nitric oxide kills viruses in early infection but I think it may also put evolutionary pressure on pathogens. Our environment obviously affects both us and animals. It's interesting we had pathogens from bats and birds and links to air pollution and severity.

curious-asd.bsky.social @curious-asd.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Not too dissimilar to today. Global reactive nitrogen is very very high. We have synthetic ammonia and then fossil fuel pollution again. All increasing nitric oxide in the body which is mildly mutagenic.

I think zoonosis has links to environmental stress. If you look at 1918. We are now looking at Horses as an intermediate host. We had equine influenza. What we also had was horse waste in the streets ammonia and fossil fuel emissions.
