The scale of Comiket is truly insane. People walk fast without stopping, even at intersections, and it somehow works better than a small anime convention in Europe. There are so many halls, it is impossible to visit them all in one day. Around 300'000 visitors.

Going to Comiket with 300,000 visitors was an interesting experience. The crowd management was very good. Nobody jumped the line. They didn't really check entrance tickets, because it would be too inefficient. It only works because people behave well.

People walk very fast, and you had a constant flood of people rushing into the entrance for the entire day

I bought this (and many other) anime T-shirts when I arrived in Tokyo. It's from a really cute anime. But wearing anime T-shirts seems to be unpopular here, even at large anime events. Japanese people prefer to walk around in the least unique clothes, so they all end up wearing the same black outfit

Comiket tickets were sold out everywhere. I went to a bookstore far away and arrived last minute. They had a sign saying they were sold out, but I asked anyway. They said the tickets are gone. BUT it turns out they only sold out the early entrance tickets, so I got two regular ones. Insanely lucky.

I went to my first (and last) maid café. From now on, please refer to me as "Master Reimajo" (see my licence attached). The experience was a bit underwhelming; it didn't live up to the expectations set by YouTube "review" videos. It turns out that all those videos are staged. I won't do it again.

I found this beautiful #japanese #broom store in #Tokyo. It's the first broom store that I visited and I want to buy them all! 🥰 But they don't ship them ._. Some of them are 300$ or more, but taking them home via airplane would be even more expensive unfortunately. One day I might do it anyway 🧹

Purchases from my first day in Japan. I'm very happy about that #Shamiko holographic shirt, ended up buying two more of it later. That Pikachu passport cover is also super nice and useful. And from now on, I can proudly pay everything with Eevee, thanks to that IC card holder 😆

Pretty Cure Store!!!! Definitely the best stores in Japan 🧡 They had Wonderful Precure items, so you can tell it was last year. I did not buy the Friendly Tact and I regret that decision now. I'm a bit behind, watching Star Twinkle Precure right now ⭐ #precure #wonderfulprecure

Visiting the Pokemon Center in Tokyo! I never played the games, but I do like some of the characters a lot (Eevee, Lapras, Glaziola, Aquana) - all for completely unrelated reasons. For example, I like Aquana for looking similar to Watery in the anime Cardcaptor Sakura 😆 #pokemon

There is a store in Akihabara that sells "Kigurumi" stuff, although I find these really scary. But my first mask was from that company, I used it for testing out the hobby once before investing so much money into it. I still use the Hadas from that brand since they are well made and work fine.

I spent the first week in Japan without an IC card (they stopped selling them while I was there). It was really complicated to use public transport without one and nobody should have to go through that much trouble. I felt like a third class citizen, especially at transfer gates 😆

Japanese manual at a bus stop, explaining how to pay for the bus, but only some words are translated to english.

Holding a japanese subway ticket, which is needed for people who don't have an IC card. You need to know how much the total ride will cost you and pay it in advance. At transfer gates, you need to go to the cashier and exchange the ticket, since they cannot be used to go through those.

#Touhou is a franchise that I am way too much invested into, even though I never played the games. Even my name is inspired by Marisa and Reimu. Originally, I wanted to be Reimari, but that name was already taken. So I combined Reimu with "majo" which means "witch". Because I want to be a witch 🪄🧹

Some lessons learned: - Hotel rooms are really tiny in Japan, but that is all that you really need. They are also really cheap, around 60€/night. - Hotel breakfast is not really worth it (even though this one here was exceptionally good for Japan). You can just grab some snacks on the way instead.

There was a small market in the middle of the ugly industrial district of Tokyo. I wasn't expecting this and was very surprised! I ordered food I knew from anime, hoping it wasn't octopus 🦑. The chef pulled out a huge tentacle and slammed it on the table! Hopefully not for my order? 🫣

The first thing that I did after landing was visiting a Spa. Not a bad decision after a very long flight! But you should not trust influencer videos on such locations, that place was not at all like in their fancy videos.
