Had a bg noise problem somewhere in my analog rack, despite it being balanced everywhere. Couldn’t find the issue. Dismantled the rack. Located the noise to 2 subgroups in my MPC project. Found both had an instance of JURA Chorus. Went into their UI and switched off the BBD noise sim. Noise gone. 😭

So you get two Elektron Analog mk1 units for a song, but their firmware is so old that neither of them are class compliant USB devices yet. But also it means the firmware software doesn’t work. Which means the terrifying prospect of doing firmware updates via a SysEx dump over a DIN cable.

It hasn’t escaped my attention that MsExcel’s responsiveness to keyboard input in the edit box as at an all time low. You can literally type ”=pi()” and watch as it eats the first parenthesis and then spits it back out. What is happening here? It’s a REACT/js pretending to be native exe isn’t it?

25% of my FB feed is infomercials trying to trick me into watching something on a streaming service with the premise that it’s more popular now that it’s on that platform. Another 25% is about older movies that the writer says we’ve not seen, with most of the comments saying “yes I have.”

One thing I have to say about reacquainting myself with the Akai MPC - rediscovering my joy of sampling. Somehow I feel something has been lost by locking it all away in proprietary plug-ins and formats. Sampling in of itself is incredibly musical.

I was literally talking to him about getting a copy of Glitch1 because I had an old DAW project that depended on it. He just gave me access to his private repo so I could rebuild the DLL myself. I had no idea what was happening to him in his private life 😭

Kieran Foster, who I shared a little code for DAW plug-ins with over the years has died aged 47. I last spoke to him a few weeks before he passed. I had no idea he was sick. His sister has arranged to have his Glitch2 plug-in become freeware. This plug-in is the stuff of legend. illformed.com
