Over 500 Chelsea community members, students, and @ctu1340.bsky.social educators came together last night at the city's school budget hearing calling on the city to come up with a school budget that is good for students and fair to educators. @aft.org

Chelsea's proposed budget would cut 70+ educators—meaning larger class sizes and major disruptions in services. Focusing cuts on teachers, counselors, & social workers who work directly with Chelsea students will only widen the opportunity gap that @ctu1340.bsky.social members work so hard to close.

But so many people showed up to make their voices heard that the chambers couldn't fit everyone! Students demanded a venue change large enough for **everyone** to be heard, and the School Committee rescheduled the hearing to Tuesday. Never underestimate the people of Chelsea. See you Tuesday 💪
