She remembered teeth, tugging at her limbs, ripping at her clothes. The hot breath of beasts as they dug into what they only could determine was prey. She laid there, her body being jerked back and forth in the leaf litter of the forest, wondering how she had gotten to this place. Eyes drifting past the rolling shoulders covered in tawny fur she blinked slowly up at the canopy of trees, the morning light just peaking through the pine needles a warm extension of the earth as she began to feel her body grow cold and numb. Eyelids fluttering, she let out what she thought was her final breath before –"

Screenshot on a lightly textured page that reads the following:

"Sleeping by the Fishes
By Taylor Currey

Solomon checked his phone for the time, which was about all the glitchy brick was good for anymore. He kept his technology until it fell apart in his hands. Zinnie’s beach party was starting soon.

The sea breeze snuggled into his pale fur (“platinum beige,” he called it) with a salty chill. Surfers were cake toppers in frosted waves of the ocean. An old sailor crooned and cackled, “red sky in the morning, sailor’s warning,” before pushing her small boat into the tide. The day was shaping up to be a magical slice of summer, or so Sol thought."

The full story will be in the zine.
