He said that in Ukrainian, right? So nobody understood it anyway as they do not bring translators. 🙂

And if it is threatened and prepared such that US intelligence knows it is meant, I‘d guess the entire blockade thing can be avoided all together. In fact, once we are at it they should make clear that at least 200 PAC3 per year go to Ukraine or else…

If this happens, Europe must not buy a single US weapons system. There is no use in having those, we could as well buy them in Switzerland. And all procurement must immediately be rerouted to European weapons where available and development where not. It s’cks but where‘s the point in buying them.

🙂 What‘s the conclusion there? Germany would just not fight it? And on take-over would welcome great food, early retirement and random protests in September to prolong the free month of August? Please come, my french is rusty but it might be ok.

If you charge „rich“ parents more for child care it seems fair to some degree but in fact, you do not charge the „double income no kids rich people“ to finance child care for those who cannot afford it all by themselves. (So the DINK have more money to rent the spacious apartments to live in 😉)

Not sure I generally agree that it should not cost extra even if you paid high taxes already but kids (care) is indeed a weird thing to have this situation.

The longing for less complexity because before, choices were limited and in part made by others. What‘s new is that those seperate parts now seem to have become mergable with distance in time. What might help… political talent to give identity and hope without hate. But it is nowhere to be seen.

It‘s not unfamiliar. The components have always been there. The regional special GDR culture that was not shared with BRD - there was transfusion to the one direction but never the other way around. The violence parts, with a skin head faction at every village event.

d) without having seen it but I probably very much agree that the personal abuse of the guy on social media is useless, unsocial, deeply problematic and way over the top. But the fact that this still qualifies as a scandal - I think I like.

c) the specific case of a politician of a party blaming the rather difficult economic situation on the slack of the working population (sick leave and part time work statements as examples) being caught on installing the examplary vacation furniture at his workplace… that’s just too nice 🙂

…because we had to learn the hard way that the gap between „it‘s unfathomable that a US president is divorced“ to „it‘s no problem to be a US president even if a jury found for their verdict that there must have been a sexual assault“ is nonexistent

I disagree. 🙂 I see your line of argument, I just personally think a) there will always be enough politicians (on the national level) b) it is more than ok to hold those national politicians to ridiculously high standards (they usually land soft after their political careers)…

Observing from far far away… The only explanation currently resonating for me is: Their development hit a wall. And now they need regulatory reasons which are imposed on them in order to blame why they cannot get to all knowing „hyperinteligent“ „AGI“ that they all promised their investors.

Not all „explaining“ is based solely on facts. If it were, life would be easy (and probably cruel)
000
cstop.bsky.social @cstop.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
What’s the „right thing“ and would it not be better if it is not completely unpopular? I imagine it would be extremely shot-lived if you do not explain and convince why it is the right thing. (And people should usually love the „right thing“ on foreign policy, do they not?)

The wisdom of crowds is an eerie phenomenon that informs everything from the stock market to the price of orange juice. We put it to the test with a farm animal.

This taxi driver just shouldn’t be king and he won’t. But he very likely is not the average voter on the issue of Iran. 🙂 (else we are doomed) The biggest concern is probably a good and somewhat correct transition of average wisdom to policy. And not allowing too strong shifts by fear or idiology.

This is a good anecdote for my own ever more solidifying understanding of „why democracy still - and certainly on the long run - should outperform other systems“. If the average wisdom of many is transported into policy, outliers are absolutely fine or even usefull to mirrored outliers .

So sad. And yet, you get what you vote in a democracy. And you cannot run around and claim the end of times (democracy) once some party gets power - and refuse to challange their legitimacy in court. If you refuse that, you better be able to either work with them or challange them on policy.

I do. But it might be a touch too much „rational“. Typically, if you drown in debt and have a capable military, you go and conquer colonial territory to exploit. So this can be read as a threat to Canada, Greenland, Mexico, Venezuela, Cuba, or whereever they have no nukes - he‘s afraid of those.

Bodengebunden braucht’s ja eher sehr viele Laser. Star Wars!
