We're excited to announce the Sun-Times Guild has reached a tentative contract agreement with CPM that includes protections against Al slop and layoffs due to Al.

We'll have more to share after ratification, but for now...

Thank you to our readers, supporters and community members who reached out to management. Your efforts made a difference.

Our human work exceeds what a robot can replicate.

Our readers and the members who support us deserve human connection, creativity, dedication and, most importantly, information they can count on.

Our city has depended on the Sun-Times for decades, and the Sun-Times doesn't work without the journalists who bring humanity to our work every single day.

Join us in demanding no layoffs due to AI from Chicago Public Media! Emails for CPM’s management are in the reply ⬇️
White text on black background with the Sun-Times Guild logo faintly behind it:

Chicago Public Media wants the "flexibility" to be able to lay off union journalists if it thinks our work can be replaced by Al.

We demand no Al layoffs during our next contract.

Join us in demanding a fair contract and tell CPM what you think!

Today our members showed up to bargaining to once again tell Chicago Public Media we're asking for real protection: • No layoffs due to generative Al • No cutting hours or pay because of GenAl • No eliminating future jobs to make room for GenAl • GenAl can't write or create our editorial content

Happy International Worker's Day! Chicago is a union town and we are proud to be a part of the long history of solidarity that won us our rights. For May Day, we keep up the tradition of many before us as we continue to fight for a fair contract and stand in solidarity with others doing the same.

The Sun-Times Guild and WBEZ’s SAG-AFTRA are UNION STRONG in our fights for a fair contract. We stand together in our respective fights for the pay, protections and assurances the union workers who bring you Chicago’s headlines — online, on the radio and in print — deserve.

Chicago’s fake spring may be coming to a close, but that just means it’s bargaining season! Today marked the start of negotiations to ensure Chicago Public Media respects and protects the Sun-Times Guild journalists bringing you hard-hitting local news.

We're at Navy Pier today telling the CPM board to keep their promise of finding non-labor cuts to save public media and the people who make it. We’ve already seen so many talented colleagues let go. We say no more.
