Around 30% of the food in the US food supply goes unsold or uneaten. The fix is simple: Congress needs to pass the bipartisan Food Date Labeling Act, which would establish standardized language for food labels that better distinguishes between quality and safety.

Dozens of countries have adopted front-of-package nutrition labels to empower consumers. It’s time the U.S. joins them! The Food Labeling Modernization Act of 2026, intro'd today by @blumenthal.senate.gov and @booker.senate.gov, would overhaul food labels for the first time in more than 30 years.

🚨 UPDATE 🚨 On July 16, the FDA issued an advisory that consumers should avoid eating shredded iceberg lettuce from Mexico at Taco Bell locations in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, and West Virginia. Additional states may be added as more information becomes available.

On July 13th, health officials in Michigan identified lettuce or salad greens as a potential source for the outbreak, but offered no specific details about the type of greens or brand. Officials cautioned that the results are not yet definitive and other food items cannot be ruled out.

The Good Food NY Bill just passed the NY legislature with overwhelming bipartisan support! This bill would strengthen farm viability and increase in-state food sales by giving public institutions the freedom to buy more food from NY farms instead of forcing them to contract with the lowest bidder.
