The Duke of Wellington statue in Glasgow, with three traffic cones balanced on his head and one on the plinth. In the foreground, a Scottie dog statue with a traffic cone on its head. The Scottie is part of the Scotties in the City fundraiser for the Maggie’s Cancer Care charity.

Snow through a window. Black and white patterned curtains tightly frame a three-paned window. Over-exposed, through the window, snow falling on an evergreen tree.

A partially dismantled dining chair, its seat propped up and leaning against the frame, as we prepare to re-upholster the seat.

A prominent label on the underside of the chair says “NOTICE: THIS ARTICLE MEETS THE FLAMMABILITY REQUIREMENTS OF CALIFORNIA BUREAU OF HOME FURNISHINGS TECHNICAL BULLETIN 117. CARE SHOULD BE EXERCISED NEAR OPEN FLAME OR WITH BURNING CIGARETTES.”

Out of frame: upholstery fabric and a lethal looking industrial staple gun.

A sparkling bauble, shiny white frosted glass, glinting in the sunlight, hangs from a Christmas tree. On the left, greenery from the tree, the bauble hanging just left of centre. To the right, a deeply blurred background, blue and grey, shows the view out of the window behind the tree, with no details visible. Happy Christmas!

Solstice
Oslo harbour on the day of the summer solstice. Calm blue-green water, featuring a dark-hulled boat moored at a wooden dock in the foreground and several tall sailing ships with masts anchored throughout the harbor. Buildings line the waterfront under a clear blue sky.

Spotted on my walk to work this morning:
A stylised silver tone photo of a bumper sticker on a vehicle, trees and sky reflecting in the shiny paint around it. On the left of the sticker a large boxy vehicle, on indeterminate manufacture, lumbers towards the camera. On the right, the words “it’s not a jeep. It’s a fucking Land Rover.”

For some reason, I'm reminded of this photo. "Human beings are noodle beings".
A large gold statue of Momofuku Ando, inventor of the Cup Noodle. He is an elderly Japanese gentleman, balding with glasses, wearing a formal suit, waistcoat, and tie, who is standing facing the camera, left hand of hip, right hand holding a pot of Cup Noodles out in front on him.

The statue is imposing, appears to be made of gold, and towers over visitors to the Cup Noodle Museum in Yokohama.

I have no knowledge of Momofuku Ando's politics, but he was very good at noodles. Some things are worth a gold statue.

A man walks his dog on a foggy night in Glasgow. Sharply monochromatic. Several cones of light slant downward, streetlights in the fog, one illuminating a man and dog walking downhill away from the camera. A tree leans over the street from the right. Car headlights in the distance.

Notes from IETF 121 – sustainability and space research groups, moderation and codes of conduct, and perhaps even a hint of technical work csperkins.org/standards/20...
Monochrome image of the Samuel Beckett Bridge in Dublin, next to the IETF-121 meeting venue. The supports of the bridge are in the shape of a harp. The image shows the main support, rising from the bottom right corner like the prow of a ship while rows of parallel cable stays reach down and to the left in a series parallel lines; three others reach up to the top-left corner of the image in sharply expanding relief. To the right, a single support vanishes into the distance, almost straight to the right
