The UNEP has warned that the world is likely to exceed the 1.5°C warming threshold within the next decade. For snow, glaciers and permafrost, every fraction of a degree matters.   CryoSCOPE is exploring what a warmer world means for these frozen landscapes – and the water systems they support.

What are we missing when cryosphere data is missing? Potentially, much more than a gap in a dataset. Incomplete observations can make it harder to understand changing water availability, flood risks, glacier behaviour and permafrost stability, and harder to model what comes next. #ClimateData

💧 What happens to water when the cryosphere changes? Across glaciers, snow and permafrost regions, climate change is altering when, where and how water is stored and released, with consequences for ecosystems, agriculture, hydropower and communities. #Cryosphere #WaterSecurity #ClimateChange
