Upon doing another round of research I am semi confident that the invention machine gnomes Tonten and Kanten are named for onomatopoeia for blacksmithing / metal striking noises. Polon I am starting to think COULD be a reference to Polovron / Porbolon cookies but it could be a stretch.

depending on when you go, at this point it is perhaps more economical to just go to a Chinese buffet. some are like 15 bucks or less if you just get water and it's not like, Saturday dinner time. Taco Bell is still pretty solid but I think maybe the app does help there a bit.
