Earthquakes in Northern Illinois, while rare, are often because of glacial rebound, which is when the crust jumps back up after the glaciers that made the lakes are gone.

Tom Skilling
Tiny 2.9 EARTHQUAKE occurred at 2:38pm CDT Wednesday afternoon centered in Lake Michigan off Kenilworth according the the U.S. Geological Survey, the Federal agency which monitors earthquakes.
It was centered 12-13 miles off Kenilworth in Lake Michigan at a depth of 3.1 miles. No major fault lines in the area. It was likely the product of the bedrock beneath Lake Michigan still very slowly shifting and rebounding in the wake of the removal of the mass of ice from the last ice age.
It's a process known as "isostatic rebound". Here's a definition of "isostatic rebound" from the GeographyRealm website: "Isostatic rebound is the slow, gradual rise of Earth's crust after the heavy weight of ice sheets from the last Ice Age is removed. Because the Earth's mantle behaves like a fluid, the crust sinks under the massive weight of glaciers and eventually "bounces back" over thousands of years once the ice melts. https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eventpage/us7000sz2h/executive

Twitter the only place where we’ll articulated sentences still get misinterpreted.

You can say “I like pancakes” and somebody will say “So you hate waffles?”

Some commentary on Elon and Trump fighting each other straight from the mouth of Jesus

25 But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? 27 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. 28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.
