this may invite recrimination — or it might have done if anyone ever saw my remark, but that’s unlikely — but imo relegation wouldn’t be the absolute worst thing to happen to spurs i’ve always enjoyed watching the championship, anyway — i like the lack of VAR and the scrappy competition #coys

listening to hegseth talk about his “warfighters” is like listening to a child who has learned a cussword that makes him feel very big, strong, and mean to use

So again moderation is turned over to an external source ( usually a woman) While the data is corrected by an outside source ( usually someone in a heavily colonized country) While it boils the earth So one person can have the experience of having a digital yes man …

For years on my old blog I published the names of servicemembers who died in Iraq & Afghanistan. No other outlets were. These are the first 4 Americans to die in the Iran War. Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35 Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42 Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39 Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20

ah, Les Misérables — you do have your zingers “A nation is illustrious, it tastes the ideal — and then it bites the filth and finds it good” #LesMiserables

now when clumsy scams are directed my way, i can’t shake the idea that the people behind them are prisoners at a horrible forced-labor camp far away, threatened into spending hours laying honeytraps and flattering strangers what a world

this was my impression. i showed it to a high school class some years back (right after we read the allegory of the cave) and they, while appreciating the chance to watch a movie they’d heard about, were strictly meh in response

hike highlights: the only bit of blue sky we saw today was right when we came out of the woods toward the top of the ridge then the clouds lowered a bit, but we could still see a long way out #dogs #hiking #bluesky

dog beside a dirt trail heading toward a hill top - ahead is a small patch of blue sky among puffy white cloud cover

taking the hound out for the Sunday hike solo, as I could not find a friend who was both available and up for a 5 mile trek around big hills 😕 this is my cue to be grateful that *I’m* available & fit enough for such pursuits

this this is why I struggle here Bluesky continues to feel like it has 2 modes: political discourse which is mostly homogenous, and personal self promotion, which does not create interactivity

how many billions of us across the world feel deeply alienated/sickened/oppressed/terrified by our governments? this is in fact what *connects* me to people in Iran, in Russia, in China, etc

trying to maintain a connection with bluesky, but honestly, finding it tough and yet! here’s a picture of a beautiful pathway for #footpathfriday this one reminds me that even after wildfire the earth can astonish us with resilience and vibrancy

a dirt path up a gentle hill toward the burned shapes of trees, but against a backdrop of hills lush with green grasses and regrowing bushes

was just at the gym, listening to a woman in her 70s talk about her 98 year old mother (99 next month) she still lives on her own, everything is neat as a pin. but she has to be reminded to “scroll down the page” to look at photos (this conversation was v sweet & but also rather distracting)

state of the union watch party with my government class: stuffies available ✅ hot chocolate and donut holes ✅ tables pushed aside, comfy chairs and spots on floor ✅ volume on low ✅ more seriously, my students listened so thoughtfully and had a lot of great observations to share — I was proud!
