Fair 😆 I’ve certainly got a random list of words, phrases, and tags that I’ve muted.

You’re going to have to do lots of shit you don’t want to. You’re going to have to follow lots of shitty, stupid rules. That’s the reality of having a job and working for someone else. And it’s not about iced coffee. It’s about basic respect and acting like an adult instead of a child. #icedcoffee

I don’t know the full deal about this iced coffee nonsense, but why should that stop me sharing my hot take? If you don’t need the job or they need you more than you need them do whatever the fuck you want. But if you sneed that job? Suck it up, dumb ass. 🧵 #icedcoffee #interview

The absolute knobs over at Google have decided that I live somewhere in Arizona. For the last four days 90% of the ads I see on YouTube have been political ads for state and local elections in the Grand Canyon State. Dumb asses.

General strikes have led to real social change around the world. Unfortunately its hard to see it happening in the United States with so many people locked into single-source news diets.

I think that’s how it began, but now I’ve seen a lot of other people talking about it as well. Honestly I don’t think much will come of it, though I wish Americans were more willing to launch cross-industry and general strikes.

So it might be worth considering stocking up a little bit. Make sure you've got the important things covered. Buy some canned food (keeps a long time and can be eaten without heating up). Fill your gas tank(s). If nothing else, preparations like this are also valuable as winter approaches.

If it happens, if it's widespread, and if it lasts longer than a few days, it could mean picked over or even empty shelves in stores. Think about what it was like during the pandemic. Shortages of lots of basic necessities. 🧵

So there's some talk about truckers going on strike October 1. Will it happen? Who knows. Will it have an effect? I don't think they're targeting the right people. Could they have avoided all of this by voting smarter? Absolutely. What could this mean to all of us? 🧵

Opening and closing pocket knives. I decided to include my much older Kershaw blur as it’s the only assisted opening knife I own, but also has a much more common frame lock.

I got a new pocket knife yesterday (the blue-handled Sencut). Like the copper-handled Kershaw it has a D2 blade and a painted aluminum handle. It has a button lock, which is a first for me, and is a flipper, which I’ve had before. #knives #pocketknives #sencutknives #kershawknives #bladehq
Two pocket knives viewed in parallel profile, blades open, sitting on a wood-grain service. The top knife is a brand new Sencut Selkyris. The bottom knife is a Kershaw Iridium. The Sencut has a flipper opening mechanism and a button lock. The Kershaw has a thumb-stud opening and a bar lock. Both have blades made from D2 tool steel and painted aluminum handles. Both have tip-up pocket clips. Two pocket knives viewed tips forward, blades open, sitting on a wood-grain service. The left knife is a brand new Sencut Selkyris. The right knife is a Kershaw Iridium. The Sencut has a grey, clip-point Bowie blade. The Kershaw has a black, reverse tanto blade. The bases of two pocket knives. The front knife is a brand new Sencut Selkyris. The back knife is a Kershaw Iridium. The Sencut is clean and shows no sign of wear. The Kershaw has worn paint and scratches.

What kind of crooked, on the take bullshit, was calling that as a goal kick?! We’re going to need a financial audit of the ref after this match to find out how much Southampton paid him. New car? Kids in an expensive school? Shady AF. #wxmafc #askwxm #wxmthirstsection 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Thanks. I’m not a fan of these busy, crowded, launch weekends. Each nine hour shift feels like it lasts eleven, and I’ve got three more of them before I get a break.

Barely woke up in time for the match this morning. Worked a closing shift yesterday and have to work another closing shift today. I’m really hoping for a better showing than last week. Good luck to the team and to the community. Good luck to all us fans. #wxmafc #askwxm #wxmthirstsection 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

CELTIC SHIELD BOBIGNY
LH replica of celtic shield that was found in French locality of Bobigny (2nd century of old age). Plywood shield is covered and rimmed with rawhide, forged umbo. Wooden central ribbon. Size: 110 x 50...

I’m annoyed that the only place producing a replica of an ancient Celtic shield is (a.) in the Czech Republic, (b.) it’s special order, and (c.) is expensive and will have high freight. Tons of places make Viking-era Scandinavian shields, but Celtic ones are very difficult to find.

So I keep them in cases. I treat them gently. I make sure they look as new after two years as they do after two minutes. It’s good for my budget, but it does make me a little sad.

There is no reason why I couldn’t let my iPhones wear the same way, except that I’m not going to keep them for years or even decades. I think an iPhone with the same scrapes and scratches would look good. Except that I’m only going to have them for two years and I want to get good trade in value. 🧵

The green handled knife is something I’ve had since 2013. The copper handled knife since 2024. The flashlight somewhere inbetween. I appreciate that they look better and better as the years pass. Not new: used. Better. 🧵

One of my flashlights and two of my pocket knives. I favor both kinds of things made with aluminum handles because I like how they feel and I like how they wear. I like the silver metal showing through the paint. I like the little scrapes and scratches and gouges. 🧵
This image features three items with worn aluminum handles arranged horizontally on a wooden surface, all showing scratches, scrapes, and paint worn away at the edges. At the top is a black flashlight with a red lanyard. In the middle is a closed pocket knife with a copper-colored handle and a silver pocket clip. At the bottom is another closed pocket knife featuring an olive drab green handle with black insets, a silver pocket clip, and a red lanyard.

The break room bathrooms at work were designed by somebody who managed to combine the sense of “I’ll never have to use them“ with “I hate the people who will.” They’re fucking horrible.

First time I’ve listened to this band. I quite enjoyed this album! It hit all the marks I’m looking for in symphonic metal. I will definitely be going back into their catalog.

The problem with Sheeran and people like him is that there’s a difference between politics and morality. Differences of opinion and evil are not the same.

The MAGA voters who then respond to the responses by getting mad? Them I don't have any sympathy for.

I also think a lot of the liberal responses could show more sympathy and empathy. I understand the indignation. I understand the anger. And yes, I agree, these Trump voters are receiving what they voted for, whether they understood that in the voting booth or not.

I feel incredible empathy for American farmers: they have been getting absolutely destroyed for decades. I wish it wasn't the case. I wish they received the support and respect their work deserves. I wish they wouldn't continue voting for the people harming them.

It was a conversation with a coworker. I was describing my dilemma to her and made an offhand comment about something I saw myself getting to eventually. Later that evening, while staring at my cursor, I realized I could simply cut straight to it. Still took me another three days, but that was it.

What is the level of acceptability when it comes to burning down a grocery store that already has eggnog out? Can anyone make an argument that eggnog is somehow seasonally appropriate while we have still not yet reached the middle of September?

Relocated from the cafe to the beach to continue writing today. May not last long, though, given the heat of the sun. #write #writer #writing #amwriting #writingcommunity
A sunlit waterfront work setup rests on a weathered red picnic table beside a sandy beach: an open laptop displaying a document, a black zippered case, a brown leather pouch, and a tall takeaway coffee cup. Beyond the table, a few people walk and stand along the shore near a rocky breakwater. Across calm blue water, a white ferry sits at its terminal, with low, hazy mountains stretching along the horizon beneath a wide blue sky streaked with thin clouds.
