Cheap places buying eggs usually buy "Liquid Eggs" which is 90% egg white and 10% protein and yellow food coloring. This lacks many qualities of actual eggs, but it produces something akin in appearance to a scrambled egg when cooked. Cost and appearance; that's all the higher-ups care about.

Snakes don't. Lizards (even the legless lizards) do. Herpetologists use this in the field to quickly determine whether a smaller snake is a snake or not.

I have eaten at 2 "Mongolian grill" places, and both were pretty good. Note that these would be the Mongolian equivalent of an ordinary pizza place. Pretty decent, but not haute cuisine.

Since this goes on for a while, and the cat doesn't have its claws out, this shows they've got serious "We don't always get along, but we can do some things really well," attitude.

One queen recognizes another. Though Mystic's realm is small, she rules it with fierce claws and swift pounces.
Glossy black cat Mystic sits on chair, paws outstretched. Yes, she's queen of this place.

The game looked somewhat repetitive but interesting in a very offbeat way because of the number and variety of girl/boyfriends you could wield/date. And yeah, not everyone had a great mom, so good on them for thinking of that. (Supportive texts from Dog: WANT!)

wrote and compiled that in July 2000, and that binary still functions fine. (Using just stdio/libc is responsible for that, I think.)

While it's usually not necessary, you *can* look at the assembly if you want. "gcc -S file.c" and you get file.s in (whatever) assembly. The internals of LLMs are basically incomprehensible and impossible to look at. C: crow202.com/2026/myod.c , x86 assembly: crow202.com/2026/myod.s . FWIW, I

Measure out what looks right into a measuring spoon or cup. Write that down. Say that the directions may require adjustment. crow202.com/recipes.txt , search for "totally vague chicken curry" for something that did not get that treatment.

ISTR the worst thing an author can do is waste a reader's time. (Stephen King might have written that.) Usually I finish books, main exception being one that sold itself as a thriller but turned out to be "Go Jesus!" I've paused the one I'm reading for 2 weeks though.

Went to an El Salvadoran restaurant a few days ago, and a thing that the menu didn't advertise was that every dish came with salad: tastesbetterfromscratch.com/curtido/ , mostly made of cabbage, totally delicious. The pupusas and empanadas were also great. I'd eat there all the time if I could.

"dmesg | tail -n 60" will probably show that the drive has had a hardware failure. "lsof | grep (mountpoint)" will tell you which process is using the drive, then you can kill -9 that process. The prognosis is not good; hardware failures are difficult to fix with software.

One website *really* wants a cellphone#, probably so they can sell it to idiot spammers. This is, so far, easily bypassed with NukeAnything removing the intrusive dialog and its subwidgets.

Firefox: Edit->Settings->Search, Add, set the name of the new thing to "DuckDuckGo (no AI)", set the URL to "noai.duckduckgo.com/?q=%s" , set a keyword if you want. Then set this to the default search engine. Why is this not the *default* for DDG?

Even on hardware that worked properly, Win98 IME was a festival of constant crashes 1998..2000. NT was slightly more stable so I was glad both university and work had a bunch of NT machines. I gave up running Win98 in 2001ish, switched to SuSE then Gentoo at home.

Firefox, Edit->Settings->Search, add engine, enter noai.duckduckgo.com?q=%s for the URL. Name it DuckDuckGo (no AI), give it a keyword if you want, make that your default search engine. Why is this not the *default* for DDG? AI in 2026 is useless and wasteful.

Sign up with those Palantir jerks, then re-enact the Simple Sabotage Field Manual they distributed to occupied Europe. taskandpurpose.com/history/ww2-... and the full document may be on a .gov site somewhere. Or ask a neural net what to do, and do the dumbest thing it says. Similar results?

"No beans in chili" is an artifact of chili competitions. There are so many kinds of beans that allowing beans in competition chili would turn every competition into a bean competition, so competition chili excludes beans. For food, beans are cheaper than meat, so use them in chili.

I made beans and rice for dinner, but the rice hadn't absorbed all the boiling water after 5 minutes. "Oh well, we're having beans and rice in a bowl," I said, and did that. The rice in the pot had absorbed a lot more water after I'd finished eating. I guess it can take longer sometimes.

violating the university signage rules. "It's a flag. Are we violating the flaggage rules?" said the faculty. The flag stayed up. I hope fewer students were confused. Creativity >> bureaucracy, at least back then.

A ramen shop nearby used to have shio. It was very salty, so I preferred miso or tonkatsu or vegetarian. I guess a lot of other people had the same opinion as they removed shio ramen from the menu. Note that the place had ordinary tables/booths, and customers usually talked while eating.

Unless the 2 APIs were built to deliberately obscure details and how things work (you usually don't do that for external programs and/or APIs), somebody competent will be able to reverse-engineer them given enough time. BTDTGTTS. Also, this seems like a boneheaded thing to do for several reasons.

Bags of Fritos and the bags that cat treats come in apparently sound alike to my cat. So she occasionally gets disappointed that she is not getting treats, but the human's having corn chips. I give her a piece of corn chip as a tax as she likes to lick them.

Gentoo, by default, says "Warning: os-prober will not be executed to detect other bootable partitions. Check GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER documentation entry." when you run grub-mkconfig . Then again, you're probably running something that's not Gentoo.

OK, I mistakenly bought paté canned food for Mystic. I thought she'd hate it as she's always never eaten much of it when I served it, but she ate 100% of both servings. If she keeps eating it, her options for food are about double what they used to be.

At some point in math class (1992?), we all filled out a 1040EZ form. This was pretty simple and was the form most high schoolers working part-time would've had to fill out. No hamsters were threatened though. YMMV.

Shadows Over Loathing is a turn-based RPG told with stick figures, puzzles, combat, several companions, and a decidedly warped sense of humor. I think it goes on sale every so often, but it's $22.99 full price.

The Atari Asteroids game is (probably) fairly simple; xmame was capable of running that in 2000 or so. Doing HTTP is slightly more complex, though all x86 machines since 1998 have been capable of doing that.

There's a part about 1/3 of the way through Shadows Over Loathing where your stick-figure human character is transformed into a dinosaur and you are unable to talk or open doors. It's pretty epic, very entertaining, and this has the same energy.

This looks really interesting. I only have 199 G free on this machine though, so I'd have to use the lite version. Apple's DOS 3 is listed in the README, that was old in 1985. They'd just released ProDOS 1, many games still required DOS 3.3. DOS 3.2 existed but I never saw it in the wild.

I wonder whether Google's decision to go all in on their AI slop will affect traffic to their search engine. I've already removed Google as an option in the menu for this firefox installation, and recommend that you do the same. (Edit->Settings, search tab.)

Atlassian is bullshit; their products are proprietary takes on Bugzilla and/or Wikipedia and their Wikipedia analogue is worse than its source as it can't even do a keyword search properly. There is no value in this company's software.

A Ramen Slinger, heated up in the microwave for leftovers. The recipe ( crow202.com/recipes.txt , search for "Ramen Slinger") is adaptable/easy in most cases. I need to go find the hot sauce though.

In 2001, I helped replace Visual Source Safe with a CVS server. CVS was far more useful than VSS as it never corrupted its database and it could easily be backed up. Not as shiny, but you want your version control system to be boring and predictable.
