Mr Beast and James Patterson supposedly collaborated on a book. Honestly if I were them, I'd want my participation to be doubted... Because I would never want my name on something this atrocious. THE MOST DANGEROUS GAMES... A 12 hour deep dive read and review. youtu.be/84Ug52_sjSI

MrBeast/patterson book: done. Goddamn. This is truly atrocious on every level. I am fearful of being accused of overusing hyperbole. Please trust me: it sucks big time. The ending is a masterpiece of nonsensical stupidity

I am reading MrBeast/James Patterson's book. I am someone staunchly against accusing authors of AI, because I find people are much worse at that than they think, and it's generally impossible to prove. I absolutely am leaning towards THE MOST DANGEROUS GAMES being written using AI. It's. Atrocious

I will return to updating here!! I've been doing a new style of book review, 'live reads', where I checked in as I read and given off the cuff remarks. It's been way easier than scripted, but I'm not giving up my stupidly long essays anytime soon

I'm in the midst of my Crowntide review, I got a haircut, I was briefly in Prague, and I'm back on my fallen london fancomic life because I love that dang crab and if I love it hard enough I can psychically will everyone else to. So, busy 👌🦀🫡

Abstract comic page made in collage/scrapbook style. The text says "I HUNGER. she repeats" and the images are of glowing orange-pink plant life and a long, twisting, mostly unseen blue-black scorpion thing ensnaring a hand.

youtu.be/vUilucRyHdY Lightlark 3.5, aka the novellas ORO and GRIM, are.... Woof, rough. Here's my 3.5 hour in depth review! Text version is up on my blog. A "novella with some prequel and some retelling" ought to be simple. Yet. This makes the men repulsive and BOY does it hate women (xcept Isla)

Reading Crowntide, Lightlark #4, by Alex Aster! Boy, if only her publisher let her write instead of making her publish 3 books a year— I've never seen a series get so noticeably worse in prose, quality, plot, EVERYTHING. I didn't like lightlark, but at least it felt like someone tried somewhere. ☠️

070

A M Blaushild, Crowcaller @crow-caller.bsky.social · 08/04/2026

I continue!! My video review of Oro/Grim (Lightlark book 3.5) should be out fairly soon. Excited to have it out— it's an absolute mess of misogyny, plot holes, and slop. At one point a war begins, 1000s die, and ends over the course of 3 sentences. This unseen war is incredibly important, apparently

A M Blaushild, Crowcaller @crow-caller.bsky.social · 01/01/2026

I did a lot of papercraft this year too, and love the end results. Um. It was all Fallen London again, but I'm autistic okay!!

....meanwhile, my Fallen London fancomic Creatures of Heaven hit THREE HUNDRED PAGES, I finished chapter 6 a few days ago, and excited to start 7— the final chapter! :D I did a ton I'm really chuffed by, this continues to be such a great creative exercise. You can read it without knowing FL Btw!

I'm behind ★...her NEXT book starside is in like march and by the time I'm done with the above, I'll read it too ★.......so

Grim and Oro by Alex Aster is so far.... Despite being called fanservice, woof, the characters are unpleasant, creepy, and act bizarre. there's a kiss (the endgame, author fav couple!) that is SO gross. I don't like kissing so I ran a poll. The overwhelming sentiment I hear is "literally gagworthy"

May 3rd was the anniversary of my first post about suncrab, the obscure, kinda unpopular relationship between a tyrant-god-sun and a mailman-crab from Fallen London I'm ace aro-spec. I have never cared about shipping. I don't like romance. But suncrab? I like suncrab

Digital art of a yellow sun with a detached hand, holding close to its single giant eye a grey-black creature. The creature resembles a crustacean and is covered in red sigils. It is presenting the sun with an envelope, surrounded by cartoon hearts

1485

A M Blaushild, Crowcaller @crow-caller.bsky.social · 05/05/2025

I am obsessed with Modelland as I knew I'd be. I still can't figure out how to describe it. Transcendental. So horrific yet so blasé about it. My fav is yhe completely incidental side character of "mutant lizard man trekking to modelland to eat the pancreas of a 15 Yr old"

130

A M Blaushild, Crowcaller @crow-caller.bsky.social · 23/04/2025

Make suncrab canon, i cry, like it isn't already so deeply canon it's the foundation of the entire universe. But also. everything about it is so uncertain we can't even be sure they even like each other #fallenlondon

191

A M Blaushild, Crowcaller @crow-caller.bsky.social · 23/04/2025

I don't think modelland was written in our reality. This is, so far, the best way I got to describe it

of all the books I've covered, I think the one that still haunts me the most is 'Precious Blood'. I will be restrained (I will resist) but never has a book tempted me to hunt down the people involved so I can shake them by the shoulders. WHO at Simon and Schuster okayed that hatecrime of a YA book

160

A M Blaushild, Crowcaller @crow-caller.bsky.social · 04/03/2025

This might be my favourite pulp sff introduction I've ever read. I love picking up a collection from 1970s and going "this perfect aligns with my sense of humour". Goddamn I wish *I* was writing the kind of nonsense I could ask a friend to over-interpret for me in an afterword!

041

A M Blaushild, Crowcaller @crow-caller.bsky.social · 23/01/2025

Finished 'Needle in a Timestack' by Robert Silverberg! I liked it okay, but hard emphasis on Okay. The highlights were, perhaps unsurprisingly, the story about the lonely crab alien romance and the one about the giant bat alien (no reason in particular). But not a collection I'd recommend

Been ill, but going to get back to work soon. I haven't decided what book I'm doing next— instead I'm going to work on a Fallen London world/lore introduction video! I've wanted to for ages, and with the TTRPG coming, it seems an appropriate time. Plus, I'm autistic and this is enrichment

Some of my pulp collection with fun covers/names. I am very behind on reading so I have yet to read most of them, but a few remarks -yes I saw BREED TO COMES spine and grabbed it immediately. The cover delights. The innuendo delights more -I looove Spiders Robinson. Callahan's Crosstime Saloon ❤️
