We share our space with animals and wildlife. For our sake and theirs, avoid direct interaction with wildlife as much as possible. Never feed wild animals, and keep attractants secure.

Bacteria multiply quickly in warmer weather, which causes food to spoil. Use a cooler to help food keep longer, regularly replenish it with ice, and make sure you don't take risks - if food thaws, discard it.

Ticks are spreading northward, and can carry serious illness. Protect yourself by wearing long sleeves and pants in a light colour, wearing insect repellent, and using a buddy system to check for ticks when returning from time in the woods or long grasses.

When temperatures rise, it's tempting to find the nearest body of water to cool down - and water can be a great way of mitigating heat injury risk! Water can store a lot of heat, and help you stay cool. But don't get careless; don't swim alone, and watch for boats.

Summer presents unique hazards in the workplace. Sun exposure increases risk of skin cancer, and burns expose you to risk of heat illness and infection. Always wear sunscreen when outdoors, even when it's cloudy or you're in the shade.
