Happy 73rd birthday to Dennis Bovell. Amongst many career highlights, Dennis wrote, produced and played on Silly Games. He had previously worked with Janet Kay and knew she would be perfect to hit those high notes... youtu.be/T6LjYAaHy7A?... #reggae #reggaesky #vinylsky #vinyl #musicsky

Watched, La Chimera, (2024). Down beat and exuberant, earthy and poetic, ghosts and grief, music and life, cops and robbers and robbers, side and outsiderism. Centering all is Josh O'Connor's fallen archaeologist grave robber melancholic Lee Brilleaux.

Just read, Kevin Barry-Beatlebone. Was nearly half way through this beatle alone bone book before realizing it was a contemplation on John Lennon and kicked my dumb ass arse half the way around and then back again. The man has a way with language, dark and charm. And runs. #KevinBarry

Watched, Xeno (2025). It's a teen and alien movie for sure but the subtext is so strong that it is an antiestablishment grief story. The first lines were, "better to burn out than fade away, my my hey hey" at a lizard cremation and I thought, here we go. youtu.be/UDTx0JQlXRY?...

Right, coming to the end of sofa surfing Glastonbury and could quite happily never watch a guitar band ever again.

Watching Glastonbury coverage and waiting for the caption to come up on who the band are, simply to to add to my indistinct indie "rock" band list.

Watched, Us (2019). Lovely family film superbly acted. More laughs than I was expecting, little family ones but laugh funny and a twist big enough to make me want to watch the fucker again.

Watched, I Care A Lot (2020). Social horror heist movie. Wow. Ever wanted to root for murderous gangsters against the American care system then not, then find out it's all business and no people, well this is the film for you and I'm learning me. Bleakest of fun.

Watched, Eureka (1983). "Once I had it all, now I just have everything". Yep, it's all bright dark light stuff, with all sorts of under baked goings on and an over baked trial. Really liked the first bit and went along with the rest of it in a disappointed way, much like the premise, I suppose.

Watch, Fly Me To The Moon (2024). Looks great, Scarlet Johansson is the film really... and Channing Tatum's t shirt tops. Advertising is legalized scamming. I was charmed. Also, youtu.be/wCvhpxznQWo?...

For Agnès Varda's birthday: I wrote a little thing about a brilliant piece of direction she gave to Sandrine Bonnaire for Vagabond. And she didn't go on and on about it. It was 6 words. I think it's instructive in re: what good directing of actors actually IS: www.sheilaomalley.com?p=155370

Watched, Fountain Of Youth (2025). The nonsense's nonsense. Would have been better fun if Krasinski and Portman swapped roles. Guy Richie keeping up his action man Irwin Allen with money shtick.
