Yep. People adopted early mechanical comptometers despite their error rate. Seymour Cray's CRAY-1 famously ran rings around IBM in part because of an idiosyncratic floating point implementation that was often wrong. C has been called a domain-specific language for creating security holes. 1/n

One major focus for us, in our quest to make the world safer through research, is the characterization and mitigation of risks associated with energy-storage systems, with lithium-ion batteries being the most ubiquitous hazard. NOBODY wants to be around a thermal runaway event... 🧪
