Since "Thinking, Fast and Slow" was published in 2011, science has faced the replication crisis. Many famous findings have failed to reproduce, including many from the book. It remains a valuable book on judgment, but it should be read with caution. I wrote this to help: critikid.com/a-modern-gui...

Pseudoscience is not the same as bad science. Bad science is a faulty version of good science. It follows the scientific method, but it makes mistakes. Pseudoscience, on the other hand, is not science at all. Read more: critikid.com/how-to-spot-...

Can you solve the gummy bear puzzle? Thank you to Henk Tijms for sharing a variation of this puzzle with me.
Text saying: There are 10 gummies in a bag.
Two of them are orange and the other eight are yellow.

You will take gummies from the bag, one at a time at random, and eat them until you take out a gummy of the other colour. When this happens, you put it back in the bag and start over.

What are the chances that the last gummy you eat is orange?

There are 3 puzzles a day... do you think all 3 should have the 3 steps or just the first one?
100
Stephanie Simoes @critikid.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Right now, allsome.app puzzles work in 3 steps: First you solve 2 circles, then 3, then 4, as shown in the pictures. Do you think it would be better if the first two steps were skipped and you just had to solve 4 circles right away?

Pseudoscience looks like science in that it uses technical language and "experiments," but without the safeguards that make science reliable. Like stage magic, it creates a convincing illusion. The difference is that magicians are honest about what they are doing.
