Ugh she’s just so stinkin cute I can’t! Big day for the Noodle today - pup cup at our local general store on its last day open for the season, walk down to the lake, and …

Kip and his post run antics. Roll every 2 feet, then lie on your cot and sun your belly until breakfast time.

Who won the goofiest face award from our run today? Demon (Black and Tan) or Artie (Black and White)?!?

Long time no see! Life’s been a bit of a roller coaster lately, happy to hopefully be on the other side. Fall training is in full swing here with some ambitious race plans for the winter! More to come on that later. For now here’s the four team members that joined my kennel this summer!

Hi friends! It’s been very busy this summer at the kennel and I’ve been slacking on the updates! Since April we have welcomed 4 new members to the pack (Artie, Winnie, Roo, and Nunie). I’ll try to do a full blog update on my website soon with better introductions. In the meantime, meet Nunie!!!

Hey friends! There’s been a lot of big things on the go here at the kennel. It’s been go go go for several weeks, with things hopefully slowing down next week. I will try to share a big update on my website blog next week! Here’s some photos from today’s play time!

The best girl turns 9 today! I don’t know where I’d be without this dog. 9 years has flown by, here’s to many more!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 02/05/2026

Lead dog in the making! Artie’s 9th run ever and first run on a scooter. She did phenomenal! Paired with the best girl JB for guidance. A nice easy 2 miles and she didn’t look back once! She’s going to be an absolute star!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 28/04/2026

Chaos? Or just puppy antics, one will never know! Artie has been such an easy dog to integrate into my pack and is doing phenomenal! She’s such a happy go lucky girl with a goofy playful side starting to emerge!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 27/04/2026

Cool April days call for fun wet runs! Artie is fitting in like she’s been here her whole life. Here’s to more adventures!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 20/04/2026

I am VERY excited to introduce little Miss Artemis! Artie for short. She joined the team yesterday and I am already over the moon about her!

April 14th. Still on sleds!!! What an incredible sled season it has been for us here. Probably atleast another week of hookable trails!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 09/04/2026

I’ve been slacking on our updates over the last month, lots of life things going on! Looking forward to sharing about one really big project we had the opportunity to work on when I can 🎥🎬🍿!!

And just like that the new truck is ready for all the dog powered adventures to come!

5382

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 03/03/2026

Well friends, the dog truck was officially a goner. There was no reasonable or safe fix for her. She had served me well, travelling entirely across Canada multiple times, to many many dog events, & seeing the introduction of many new canine friends. She did her time, but It was time for a new ride.

1232

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 27/02/2026

Well. After many miles & many adventures, the dog truck has officially bit the bullet. It’s a sad day here, but one that would happen eventually. I told myself I’d drive this truck until it couldn’t drive anymore, here we are. Now comes the adventure of truck shopping in a 23 year old’s budget 😅

It’s our last race weekend of the season! We had our best run yet just a few days ago (before our massive snowstorm of 2 feet of snow in 48 hours). The team is firing on all cylinders and ready to rock the Wolftrack Classic!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 17/02/2026

My mom sent me this photo memory the other day, from around 2007. This was my very first time being introduced to mushing, I was immediately hooked. This simple dog ride at a winter carnival has led me to a life of adventure, the best is yet to come! Big things are coming and I can’t wait to share!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 10/02/2026

Realized that I had neglected to post a Gunflint Mail Run recap on here! The race went really well for my crew of dogs. The dogs learned lots, leaders did phenomenal, and we overall had a blast. Really proud of my team for pushing through and giving me all they did! We placed 7th and I’m very proud!

4242

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 06/02/2026

Hi friends! Sharing a screenshot of my post from over on FB. It’s once again race weekend for my crew! Heading out to the Gunflint Mail Run! Will try to update as I can!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 29/01/2026

8 years between these two photos, yet it’s like nothing has changed. Beargrease will always be a special race to me! Also - grey dog in the photo on the right is Jitterbug’s mom!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 27/01/2026

Sharing screenshots of my Facebook post about the race. I am SO incredibly proud of my dogs! So happy to get to travel the trail with such a wonderful team. Here’s to more trails and miles with my best friends!

Pre race day complete! Vet checks, musher meeting and opening ceremonies completed. Dogs got their all clear to hit the trail!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 22/01/2026

Last run before Beargrease! Super chilly one, -27C as actual temp, 45km/h winds, and -36C with windchill! Dogs got suited up in all their gear and rocked the windy cold trail!

3341

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 19/01/2026

What would the week before the race be without some hiccups?!? Mad dash trying to get some things sorted, but hopefully have things mostly figured out. T minus 6 days!

One of my biggest pet peeves is mushers that don’t do appropriate foot and nail care for their dogs. Long nails do more harm then good, and routine checking of feet is so important! Here’s your reminder to trim your dogs’ nails and check over their feet!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 15/01/2026

Kip has been running lead a lot lately and feeling very anti gravity. I think he’s telling us it’s time to get cracking and get race ready! First race of the season just 11 days away!

4502

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 10/01/2026

While for many today was the start of race season, we spent the day running blissfully through yet another blizzard. We have now gotten almost 2 feet of fresh snow in 6 days 😅😅. This dog team is getting a lot of trail breaking runs in that’s for sure!

2341

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 05/01/2026

I think in the last 3 weeks we have experienced almost every trail condition. This team is ready to crush whatever trail comes our way!

2354

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 02/01/2026

Spent the last day of 2025 running dogs, and the first day of 2026 doing the same. Nothing beats getting out on the runners in a beautiful place! Today’s run we played around on a big lake with superstar open country leader Brooks taking charge solo. Open country leading might be his specialty!

I think Demon needs to share her secrets for perfect snow eyebrows, she’s never looked better!!

A brown and tan sled dog looks at the camera with frost covering her eyebrows and whiskers.

While the human has been battling some health challenges making training the dogs more challenging, I’ve still been able to get out a bit and keep the dogs happy and exercising. Not quite the December training schedule I was hoping for, but training nonetheless, and on sleds!!!!

1220

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 28/11/2025

SNOW!!! We got a real snow fall, with the trail setting up really nicely! Our last atv run today, sled runs from here on out!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 23/11/2025

Snow! 20 miles of snow filled beauty with my best friends!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 15/11/2025

Not sure about you but I *think* the team might be hard to miss out on the trail this year. Just maybe 🤔 Thank you Asmara Polcyn for sponsoring the team with some new collar lights from my Amazon wish list!!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 13/11/2025

I don’t know about you but this certainly doesn’t look like a dog team ready to stop! These guys were rocking and rolling on their 17 mile run today! This was taken at mile 11!

Some disco dog action from our smoking run tonight!! By far best run all season and our longest one too. So so proud of these dogs!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 08/11/2025

Two paws up for two successful race registrations this morning! The team is officially entered in both the Copperdog 120 and the Gunflint Mail Run! Let’s hit the trails and get training!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

Music to my ears!! This team has been champs in all regards - running, eating, attitude. So happy with how things are progressing! Their favourite meat soup got an upgrade recently with more yummy ingredients to accommodate for the longer miles and calories burned!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 07/11/2025

Just some good dogs during our ‘post run party’ - basically everyone just runs around together and relaxed while I unharness and unbootie. It’s one of my favourite times of the day!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 05/11/2025

With fall training in full swing I thought it would be a good time to share our race plans for the season! For the first time in several years I am training my own team of dogs again and have a busy race season planned for this winter!

Julia Cross @crisscrossracing.bsky.social · 04/11/2025

It’s almost like they love their job 🤔 super leader duo JB and Brooks leading the charge on our 13 mile run today!
