anyone else get the urge to make a very specific list / playlist that you will likely never revisit ?

Side of the road find. Gotta resolder a new cable but fingers crossed internally it's not completely borked. Its a Toshiba MD20Q41. I told myself I didn't need another CRT project but it was just sitting there waiting for me just down the road from my house

After having used linux full time for 2+ years now (even though I've primarily been using KDE Plasma) macOS somehow feels more familiar than windows 10, which I had previously been using since its release. Perhaps because its Unix, perhaps because I've using gnome and xfce on the side

Had someone reply to one of my posts that had previously made a post likening AI-generated output to photos taken by a human with a digital camera. Happy that individual supports open source software in academia and government however AI can fuck right off

It's rough learning a specific software in university and then wanting to use an open source alternative for personal projects. I've learned SolidWorks so learning a different 3D CAD workflow is a pain. Learned Vivado for HDL / Verilog and so that's what I'm used to

Me discovering Matlab doesn't work on arch linux specifically only after I switched from fedora to artix on my laptop. Gotta compile an older version of gnuTLS apparently. I dream of a world where universities teach open source software instead of expensive software with hefty licensing costs

I've just been had by the ol "computer won't turn on without the cover panel on." There are no wires connected to the panel nor an obvious switch that it activates, but it must be some sort of grounding. Anyway I started pulling components and swapped the PSU before it hit me and I figured it out

I'm so stoked to manage forms on my new-to-me windows 98 pc

Big Box software on top of beige old desktop PC.
OmniForm 3.0
Tag line: "Just scan, fill and store in a database."
Has sticker in star sharp stating "Works with Windows 98"
Big bold letters prominently showing stating "The Easiest Way to Manage Forms"

FINALLY got my hands on some systems that make sense to run windows 98 on. Left is some Pentium 4 1.5ghz AOpen system that I've thrown an ATI Rage 1280 Pro Ultra AGP GPU and a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz in. Right is a Pentium 3 based OptiPlex GX110

it's the 25th anniversary of a national tragedy, so surely people will eat at home with their families instead of coming to my place of work on this (relatively) nice Friday. They will be mourning those lost with their loved ones for sure.

in no less than 3 of my classes have we had someone come take up lecture time to advertise an AI microcertificate program. I've had a professor encourage students to use AI to help them study, even telling us about a $10 a month option he recommends. like what the fuck

I am determined to get this install set up to where I could (theoretically) actual do schoolwork on this. Probably not for real. I'd at least need a new battery or for the cells to be replaced for that. But NetBSD is fun so far, I love reading dozens of pages of manuals on a screen

CrispyDakota13 @crispydakota13.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

Over 2 years since I've switched to Linux full time and I still have zero urges to switch back to Windows. Fortunately my engineering degree has me either using windows software from the 90s or the software has a native Linux build so I've not even needed it for school

Highly considering making my own KDE themes, especially icons, because it seems 95% are basic "modern" and "flat" themes, 4% are just Windows and Mac look-alikes, and the final 1% are actually original designs

My phone does what I need it to do so I don't think about it's specs much, but it's so funny that my phone from 2019 (Galaxy S10+) has 8GB of RAM. 7 years later and people are still being restricted to 8GB due to fuck ass AI. I'll be keeping my phone til it breaks, vive l'headphone jack!

Currently battling thoughts of installing windows Vista over my windows XP system. I'm way more nostalgic for Vista, but I know XP is the more stable choice. People please help me choose! I'd dual boot but SSDs are expensive and I just don't see the point in having both

40+ hours in to this Skyrim run. Still have not talked to the Greybeards. It's still incredible how much there is to do and explore while not touching the main quest line. When I start getting a little bored I'll take a break and play a ton more Morrowind

000

CrispyDakota13 @crispydakota13.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

Finally Morrowind joins my collection! Now if only Daggerfall and Arena weren't insanely priced and if there was a DRM free boxed copy of Skyrim I could get. (Though I could always just make my own to spite Bethesda)
