He learns that Alyssa has been planning to feed him to her dragon alive ever since she was a child. He thinks he can talk his way out of it but has no idea how wrong he is. (More branches will be added as they are planned,)

This further seals his fate. When Gwayne sends the answer to Dragonstone, all hell breaks loose. Alyssa sends word back that their fates are sealed and that even if they had accepted the terms, one person would NOT be spared under any circumstances. Larys learns that that person is him.

He paints Alyssa as nothing but a grief stricken girl who would say anything to get close enough to kill them all, Helaena and her offspring included. The terms specifically declare Helaena and her offspring safe but he dismisses that as a ploy to lure them into a false sense of security.

He asks Gwayne why he was spared and the answer he gets makes him realize that Alyssa is through playing games. That she wants blood. He listens to the terms Alyssa gave Gwayne to deliver to Alicent and advises her not to accept them.

He also learns that Alyssa tries to save Rhaenys but fails and burns all of Cole's men save Cole and Gwayne out of sheer grief and anger. He knows the switch has been flipped in her mind. She only sees red now. When he hears that she took Cole captive, he is surprised. He didn't think she'd do that.

He learns that Princess Rhaenys was assisted in battle by Daemon's daughter Alyssa, which surprises him. He learns all of this after the battle, from Gwayne Hightower. He learns that Aemond and Vhagar manage to kill Rhaenys and Meleys at the cost of Alyssa severely wounding Vhagar in return.

(Starting a part of the story where there are multiple variations) Version 1: Larys follows all developments for the Rook's Rest plan with interest. He does not expect Rhaenyra's camp to send multiple dragonriders as she is limited on those at this time. He is surprised to learn that two show up.

This is something he never counted on. She pulls through her ordeal, keeping only her trusted family members and the Cargyll twins close. He tries to come up with a better plan but he has no time as the war escalates. He decides to see what else happens to drive her over the edge.

He does not expect her to get Kingsguard protection. Or to be exposed. He manipulates the situation and keeps himself out of immediate peril, much to Alyssa and Daemon's disdain. What he doesn't realize is that the girl is stronger and smarter than he thought. Her family gives her strength.

He is only aware that Alyssa feels unsafe with him around. He has no idea that her desire for revenge on him burns like an out of control fire. He knows nothing of how her mind is working after his plot plays out as she never allows him to be in her presence. That he expects however.

He soon hatches an even more devious plan, still intending to break Daemon and Alyssa and their trusted allies. No one learns he is behind the plot until later. He is never brought to justice, despite this being desired by his victims. He is too cunning for that, or so he thinks.

He hopes to use his targets as a means of gaining the approval of Alicent Hightower and of any rewards she may give him. He has his father and brother killed in Harrenhal under the guise of trying to fulfill Alicent's wishes. This makes him a lord and puts him in a position of power.

In return for being double crossed, as Larys learns much later, Hugh helps reunite Alyssa with her family. Alyssa repays him by actually pulling through for Hugh's daughter, using the means of goading her father into helping. This tactic works well and Larys realizes that she is a clever girl.

He hatches a plan to try and break his enemies by driving them into their own minds. His target becomes Daemon's daughter Alyssa. He kidnaps her and has a blacksmith named Hugh hold her hostage in his home in return for medicine for his deathly ill daughter. Larys double crosses Hugh though.

Larys Strong is the cruppled son of Lord Lyonel Strong and brother of Ser Harwin Strong. He is often overlooked and so is able to observe things without being noticed. This makes him a dangerous man. He can be cunning as well. And he craves power. He plots to get exactly what he wants.
