He knew he couldn’t give another lie —- not to another Mutant. “𝙉𝙤. I couldn’t. I wouldn’t. Make the choice you need to, Kurt. But know that we will always be 𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚. Xavier may be gone, the dream may be cracked at the moment —- but I’ll put it back together. For all of 𝙪𝙨.”

Could he? Could he promise a future for the Mutants to coexist. .for so long it’s all he wanted. The Avengers —- The Fantastic Four, they all lived within the limelight. But yet his kind were freaks, uncontrolled and relentless. That’s how this world spun them. So he knew the truth. (c)

—- @sparkedphoenix.bsky.social “You’re back?” Scott said, fixing the glasses on the bridge of his nose. “I wasn’t sure you’d come back.”

But that needed to change —- now more than ever. The X-Men were needed, not just for Mutant safety. But for all. “Erik’s goals will cost more 𝙗𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙙 than has already been shed. I hope you understand that.”

But still, the memory of Xavier’s lifeless body rang in his mind like a bad dream —- a bad dream that was all too real. And all too soon. “It’s what 𝙬𝙚 want too. .it. .” Scott’s hand gripped tighter on the device. Like he wasn’t sure of the words he spoke. (c)

Scott held the device in hand —- little did the two of the know what it now represented. Oppression. Fixing yourself instead of living true. Maybe what Erik had done in Washington was completely reshape Mutants and the world. Maybe for the better. (c)

| I think this earth, aesthetically, is like MCU’s F4. Just a little more “futuristic” in vibe.

His eyes wince behind the ruby quartz glasses —- letting an off hand run through the curls of his hair. “I understand, Kurt. I do but —- Erik is. .he’s 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙩. He’s. .what happened at Washington —- with Charles, I know it 𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙨. .but this can’t be an answer.”

Words fall like bricks. How did it all come to this? Magneto was a friend. A teacher —- hell, he was there when Scott was first brought in by Xavier. Now? Now his actions had torn everything apart. The X-Men were adrift, and it felt like nothing Scott could do would bring them back. (c)

—- @uncannyspiderman.bsky.social Months after Washington. The world on edge over Mutant hysteria. Magneto had done a number on their perspective —- and the team. So much so that the X-Men had split. Some gone to the Brotherhood, others stayed. Scott just wouldn’t have ever thought Kurt would (c)

“. . .Then we 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙 each other.” He says in a huff. “But this stays between us. The X-Men that remain already tilt on the edge —- I can’t have them knowing that I’m having a Senator investigated on our behalf.”

| think my idea here is to build up relationships / “mains” to tell an X-Men story 🙂‍↕️

“But Mutants need to be prepared.” He gave a sigh. “Charles. .wouldn’t approve of this. Running secret operations in the name of his dream. .but The Professor is gone. And we need to take a different stance.”

His arms cross over his chest —- weight shifting into his right foot. “Alright —- fine. I need information on Senator Trask. The rumors of the Sentinel Program he’s attempting to pass in Washington does no one any good. I know Magneto gave us a setback in the public eye. . . (c)

He ran a hand through the length of his hair. “I’m looking for someone. She has a connection to him, she used to be one of 𝙪𝙨 —- before she left the team. I know he’s still out there, and I know she will be able to find him. But I need your 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥, Wolverine. I need your help to find 𝙍𝙤𝙜𝙪𝙚.”

“We’re on the same 𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚.” Summers huffed. Leaning towards the other. “Trask —- well, he’ll do more. More and more to Mutants, Washington made it a clear example we can’t be trusted. Even if Magneto was just one time 𝙘𝙖𝙨𝙚. Erik. .was a friend, an 𝙓-𝙈𝙖𝙣. .we’re picking up his pieces.” (c)

He scoffed. The arrogance of this guy. “Magneto 𝙙𝙞𝙙.” Again, he corrects him. “He killed Xavier —- pit us against each other. .The X-Men are outcast now. But there are still some who’d keep up the 𝙛𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩.”

As the team reels from their conflict, the world changed —- Senator Trask introduces a new kind of American Defense to the “Mutant Menace”. . . . .The Sentinel. .

But the battle left the X-Men bruised and conflicted, some members resigned from the team to join Magneto’s new found Brotherhood. Like Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Mystique. The X-Men themselves titter on disbandment.
