That is honestly the most frustrating thing right there is even when you're trying to communicate, they don't give the due-diligence back, or worse, just vanish. I'm so sorry you've even had to deal with that in the first place. Best practice is have backup means of contacting like email/s >_<

Oh yea def. I just know, from experience, that the ones who try their hardest to stay in communication, get lumped in with those setting really bad examples as a whole. Most of my clients are so extremely patient and kind, and I know a lot of that is factored into the fact I'm transparent and open
