I think a lot of the issues, especially in hazbins case, come down to time constraints and when you already factor that into you expectations its really not too bad. Like idk. I just think they both really solid and good! Theyre good!!! Im very happy with where theyre both at at the moment.

And as for Alastors moral code... i dont think its anything nailed down. Its most likely that Alastor just killed people who he felt behaved badly & that frequently just happened to overlap w people who served as a threat to his community. But he probably also protected ppl intentionally at times...

And i feel like Alastors presumed moral code fits really well with the running theme/question of who has the right to judge who and the way appropriating that power corrupts intentions. We've seen it with the Sera so it would be interesting to see a perspective from the demon side as well.

& it might seem like that behavior would be less of an issue with Alastor because he seems so down bad and theres no new shiny other person around to be a threat (yet) but they have eternity & if hes willing to do that to Val he probably would be willing to do it to Alastor eventually as well.

And as for the question as to why he wasn't content like hos peers, I think thats a central theme with Vox. Hes never happy with his success, he always wants more. Like Alastor said, "You'll never fill your cup You're broken from the start No victory will ever be enough" so that tracks imo.

And I could see an argument that he was pressured by his parents to succeed to an unreasonable degree but as far as "tragic backstories" go thats pretty mundane. Which isn't bad btw!! I actually like Vox because hes easy to sympathize/identify with even if his actions aren't excusable.

Hmmm well I think ppl do end up killing people irl without any sort of outside influence all the time. And I kinda feel like that fits Vox in a way. A lot of his actions are influenced by his own internal neurosis rather than any sort of poor treatment he experiences.

And i think its also one reason hes so desperate to maintain his relationship with Vox. Because his saliva doesnt work on him! He can actually form a real relationship with him. And I dont rly think he needs be as timid with Vox as he is at times but i can certainly see WHY he is.
