A headline that gives us 4 pieces of information. The Freddo Bar has a recognised creator, he had a daughter, he is dead, and the cost is now exorbitant. I knew the last one already to be fair.

Here’s my poster design for Chris Scott’s Fringe show. Vote for my design here in the Fringe Comedy Poster Awards www.comedy.co.uk/posters/view...
Poster for comedian Chris Scott’s 2025 Ed Fringe show, the design is based on the Prince album “Parade” and shows Chris Scott’s head and arms photoshopped onto Prince’s body. The title is “I Just Want Your Extra Time And Your… Chris!” and is a riff on the lyrics to the Prince song “Kiss”, (the song notably covered by Art Of Noise Featuring Tom Jones.)

Please vote for the design using the link in the skeet.

Coming soon for all Call The Midwife fans - “Holiday On The Midwives” and “Nun’s Army”
From press release on BBC.co.uk

The BBC has announced plans to make a Call the Midwife film as well as a prequel TV series set during the Second World War.
It comes as filming begins for the 15th series of the BBC One drama, which follows a group of nurse midwives working in London's East End from the late 1950s to the start of the 1970s.
The film will be set in an as-yet undisclosed overseas location in 1972, and will feature characters from the existing TV show.
Meanwhile, the separate prequel series will "delve into the deeper past", showrunner Heidi Thomas said, offering a view of life in Poplar, east London, during the Blitz.

Post your favourite Doctor Who. Wrong answers only.
In answer to the skeet format "Post your favourite Doctor Who. Wrong answers only." here is Scottish punk poet actor Tam Dean Burn (67). Veteran of countless Scottish theatre productions as well as Outlander and River City, Tam Dean Burn survived being stabbed in the neck in 2019. His assailant died of a seizure in a prison psychiatric unit in 2024. Mr Burn has an intense acting presence and is known for throwing himself into physically demanding roles, such as the Citizen's Theatre production of Filth (1999). But can the role of Dr Who survive another "angry Scots actor who is not allowed to swear on screen"? (Dot) (Dot Dot Dot)

This AV Club retrospective look at the Aeon Flux movie is an interesting companion piece to criticism of the Thirteenth Doctor's TV era - though AF was apparently hobbled by a studio re-editing the director's version into a Matrix-apeing rip off... www.avclub.com/women-of-act...
Charlize Theron quoted from Hollywood reporter in 2020 - “Unfortunately, the very sad truth of any film in the [action] genre with a female lead, when they don’t succeed, there is this mindset of, ‘Well, if it doesn’t work, you just don’t touch it again.’ A lot of women don’t get a second chance, but when men make these movies and fail miserably, they get chance after chance after chance to go and explore that again.” Karyn Kusama, director, quote from Buzzfeed "for female directors, “each movie represents some kind of finality, potentially, to their career, as opposed to the sense of you have hits, and you have misses. That’s called being an artist. I’m very conscious of how frequently great artists in film who are male and are also generally called ‘big personalities’ get to fail.”

I'm totally fine with people maintaining an unbroken silence by the way. Many reasons why nobody is clamouring for a break in silence from some. They should feel free to continue their silence untroubled. Particularly if they have been vocally un-silent for long periods of public life. Go Away.

Heck of a detail in this story about another financial whiz-kid being taken to court for fraud. www.theguardian.com/business/202...
Highlighted text from the guardian article reads: "Javice’s case is also reminiscent of the failed prosecution of the British tech tycoon Mike Lynch – who died along with his daughter Hannah and four other passengers, in a tragic boating accident last summer – on fraud charges in connection with the $11.1bn acquisition of Autonomy by Hewlett-Packard in 2011. HP is continuing the lawsuit against Lynch’s estate."

Dramarama: The Young Persons' Guide to Going Backwards in the World (UK, 1985). This exact shot haunted me, for decades. Now, by naming my fear I control it. "Hi Charlie! Welcome to the Mouth."
