In April, volunteers helped construct this living shoreline with 250 tons of recycled shells. Since then, sediment has been filling in behind the reef. Sediment accretion provides erosion control & helps maintain the land's elevation. It's a good sign that this restoration project is taking effect!🦪

In Nov. volunteers joined us to plant 25,000 plugs of dune grass along 2 miles of beach. We're thrilled to see healthy, growing grass 8 months later! As sand blows along the beach, it will accumulate in the grass & form dunes. This helps mitigate erosion, provide storm protection and create habitat.
