And the award for my new favourite FEH character goes to...! My second-most anticipated characters (after Touma) on my favourite banner theme and they happen to be EXACTLY the kind of unit I've been looking for. Timerra TT+ as well! This banner was made for me! #FireEmblemHeroes

I forgot it wouldn't show up next to this in my profile since it's a reply so here you go! I've moved on from these characters for the most part but everything I create lives on in a special place in my heart. It was nice revisiting these five one last time. (Though we'll see what the future holds.)

With Publisher shutting down, I'll no longer be able to do those Splatfest infographics I used to do, not without starting over from scratch (Though, if I ever did continue them, I probably would start fresh). So, as a send-off, I put together one last one to fill out the one Splatfest I didn't do.

That sounds very negative but it's the DLC's only major blemish. In summary, The Shores and SotS are a redemption story in terms of gameplay and I HIGHLY recommend if you own LN3 even if the base game disappointed you. It's one flaw is the story which isn't bad, it's just not much of anything.
000
Crazyshark101 @crazyshark101.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I don't think Supermassive gets why LN2's story is so great, because 3 reheats a lot of its leftovers with none of the build-up or meaning behind them which are the foundations LN's world is built on. This doesn't detract from SotS specifically but I struggle to have faith in 4's potential story.

Crazyshark101 @crazyshark101.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
It erodes my benefit of the doubt for the base game's story because, call me dramatic, now I know there's no deeper meaning or speculation to be had. The twists exist to tug at your heartstrings and that's all there is to them. It's a fundamental misunderstanding of why LN's stories work imo.

As for Dime herself, I don't know what the point of having her reappear in The Shores was. It gives her some closure, I guess, but it once again doesn't add anything. She's not recontextualising anything, she's developing someone's character. She's there for shock value. And that is worrying to me.
100
Crazyshark101 @crazyshark101.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I'll be blunt: Why does this DLC exist, narratively speaking? It doesn't add to or elaborate on anything in the base game. The only character who actually matters to or is affected by this story is Dime. The Shores level itself is narratively null. Even Low and Alone are entirely irrelevant.

It's not perfect, but most of my complaints can be summed up as "Keep going. Give me more." There is one fatal flaw of The Shores, though, that isn't enough to diminish my enjoyment but does make me cautious going forward. It's gonna require me to talk about Secrets of the Spiral's story as a whole.

Crazyshark101 @crazyshark101.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
The Leech Monster is simple, but it's set up so well. Might be my favourite monster foreshadowing in the whole series. And it doesn't disappoint from there. It's more of the good stuff from The Puppeteer and its behaviour gives the world depth. I only wish we'd got to spend longer with it.
100
Crazyshark101 @crazyshark101.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
A complaint I had with the base game was the amount of rooms with nothing in them. 1 and 2 are very dense games, something happens in almost every room. The Shores finally fixes that. There's something to do or a notable set piece in almost every room and it makes the level feel better for it.
100
Crazyshark101 @crazyshark101.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Going in, I was worried The Shores would be a re-tread of The Depths. Thankfully that's not the case. Underwater swimming is used thoughtfully and puzzles are engaging without being difficult. A lot of the level is quite simple, in fact, but it isn't boring in spite of that.
100
Crazyshark101 @crazyshark101.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
First thing that hit me, the atmosphere. The Shores are moody, oppressive, and visually distinct. There are also tons of tiny pieces of storytelling scattered everywhere so that you can piece together the stories of both the Leech Monster and the new kid, Spare. And it's all wonderfully subtle.

Crazyshark101 @crazyshark101.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
So, thoughts on The Shores and Secrets of the Spiral as a whole. The Shores is brilliant, I loved it. This is the culmination of everything Supermassive have learned working on LN3 and it shows. I came out of it wishing there was a 3rd chapter. Fair warning: spoilers ahead. #LittleNightmaresIII

Beat The Shores. I'll probably post full thoughts tomorrow or so, but the general gist of my thoughts right now is this: It's great and I trust Supermassive with LN4 but, narratively, I do have to wonder what the point was. Shock value does not constitute a compelling story. #LittleNightmaresIII

I'm glad I decided to start playing Shadows again for that free Leda. Look at these two! They're so adorable! My only fear is that Rose is Book 4's Shadow Disciple because that's exactly the sort of twist I expect from Shadows and they put a weird amount of emphasis on her difficulty fighting.

And last, Dandori Academy is cool, but I think I need a little more than that and Oatchi pets to make the upgrade worth buying. Overall, good Direct, just not an amazing one. I was wondering what beats Zelda for the December slot and I guess the answer is nothing. Still, stuff to look forward to.

Danganronpa 2x2 caught my eye. I discovered the series recently and love mystery solving. I'm planning on picking up V3 next time it goes on sale and, if I enjoy that, 2x2 is on the docket. I'm usually really averse to blood and gore, but I guess it hits a morbid sweetspot for me.

Speaking of the best games on Switch, Metroid Ravenous!!! It looks like a direct sequel to Dread and I can't wait to play it. I might even pick up the special edition. I'm convinced there's going to be a survival mechanic of some kind that's going to force you to drain enemies to stay alive.

Crazyshark101 @crazyshark101.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
For the main Direct: Kirby confused me to begin with, I thought it looked more like a tech demo, but once they revealed the titular 'World Beyond' it kind of clicked. I consider Forgotten Land one of the best games on Switch, so I'm really looking forward to what open world Kirby looks like.

But the rest of the game looks lovely. All it took was seeing Saria to know Link was an exception. It reminds me of the kind of game I'd play as a child where I'd play pretend instead of progressing the story. And being able to play the Ocarina with the microphone is such a fun and silly idea.

Crazyshark101 @crazyshark101.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
For Zelda, I was a little put off by the Ocarina Remake on first look but, especially after seeing things like character faces that show the stylisation remains, I've warmed up to it. The only one I'm not sold on is Link himself. His tunic's a little too detailed, it's kind of off-putting.

Crazyshark101 @crazyshark101.bsky.social · 09/09/2026
The Directs were alright. The Zelda Direct was a little disappointing on the movie front, but the remake got more than I expected. And for the regular direct, there's a few heavy hitters, but rather lukewarm outside of it. It's mostly updates or stuff we already knew about.

Comparisons to OE are inevitable, but I think Raiders manages to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with it. I really want more spin-offs so the devs can expand on and refine ideas to be taken back into the numbered games. Its low points are noticeable but Splatoon Raiders comes at a high recommend from me.

And miscellaneous: - Online features are great, even if you don't have friends. - Outfits are snazzy, if a bit limited. - Spicy difficulty was a welcome increase in enemy density. - Post-game is incredibly addictive and meaty. - The final boss is both amazing and absolutely insane. Perfect cap-off.

The post-game grind is also actually awful. Only 5* weapons can have their abilities changed, and only 5* Primo weapons can be upgraded past +10. You want to use your favourite weapon? Well, get well acquainted with Awlmun Den and pray to RNGesus. The post-game relics, too, are an RNG grind.

I liked the Den and Sampler levels and adored the Big Crystal levels, but the Treasure Hunt levels leave something to be desired. It's not until the ice region that I feel like the level design picks up, but that's about 2/3 through the game. The ice levels are great, but the rest are kinda bland.

The gadget system is great, and I kind of hope it takes over or compliments the kit system in Splatoon 4. Most gadgets feel useful and gadget parts are welcome customisation. Each Tank-specific ability is also useful for different reasons and relic powers offer one last little bit of fine tuning.

Speaking of, Deep Cut are done justice in this game. The dialogue is often great, each member gets to shine individually and together, and there are several opportunities to get to know them better. Their music is also amazing. My fellow Team Future veterans may feel particularly vindicated.

The Bot Buddy is great. It's not going to play the game for you but it is genuinely a valuable ally and the way it goes flying when it gets hit is hilarious. Shiver, Frye, and Big Man's abilities are also great whether you just want to pick your favourite or want a tool to compliment your build.

All the new Boss Salmonids are amazing and the ones that have been tweaked to fit Raider's gameplay are still recognisable. Enemy variety is top notch, especially later, and the game is never more satisfying when they throw a billion things at you because you 100% have the tools to deal with it all.

First off, I just want to mention the visuals. The game looks stellar. I've always preferred the way 1's ink looks over 2 and 3, but Raiders blows them all out of the water. The animations in this game are top notch, and there's a bunch of tiny visual details and great designs across the board.

Okidoke, I've gotten to the 'end' of the postgame so I think it's about time I've gave my thoughts. Simply put, Splatoon Raiders is a great game that makes me want more Splatoon spin-offs. It has a few hiccups holding it back, but it's fantastic everywhere else. #SplatoonRaiders

Did not expect that. Well done Team Power! I thought for sure Power was the least popular team. Shows what I know. It's nice the dialog adds a bit of continuity for Raiders, and the Team Power NSO app is really neat. Frye's my favourite Deep Cut member so I'm certainly not complaining!

I ended up choosing Team Speed. Was still torn between both but the deciding factor was really petty: I prefer blue ink to purple ink. The Splatfest dialogue was fun. I know people have laughed about Frye pointing out Shiver's switch, but I think her follow-up is what sells the bit.

Anyway, it's a great game. Highly recommend, especially if you enjoyed the original Hollow Knight. There's plenty to do, the music is phenomenal, and it expands on the lore of HK in interesting ways while still being entirely it's own thing. And all for £17! Like HK, it's amazing value for money!

And this is more a preference thing, but I dislike that Silksong feels linear for a lot of it. The latter half of the game is the more open structure I like, but it takes half of the game to get there. It'll have you explore, don't get me wrong, but it takes a bit too long to open up properly.
100
Crazyshark101 @crazyshark101.bsky.social · 08/07/2026
However, it's not a perfect game. The early game feels pretty brutal in terms of both damage and bench placement. There's more than one area in the game that just feels kind of cruel. Some of it's for worldbuilding, but some are just kinda mean. It eases up later, but the start suffers for it.
110
Crazyshark101 @crazyshark101.bsky.social · 08/07/2026
The game is packed with content. I guarantee that the moment you think you've seen everything, you'll stumble into a new area. And that'll happen multiple times. The characters are great, most of them memorable, and the fact that Hornet talks and has a personality breathes extra life into the world.
100
Crazyshark101 @crazyshark101.bsky.social · 08/07/2026
Hornet feels amazing to control. It does the Metroid Dread thing where it gives you strong movement abilities and then expects you to use them to their fullest. Boss battles are where this is at its best. There's an upgrade in Act 2 used for platforming and combat and it feels great for both.

It took me 8 months but I've finally beaten Silksong! I couldn't ask for a better successor to the original Hollow Knight. "Lethal Acrobatic Combat" was the perfect way to describe how Hornet feels. I don't think it surpasses the original, but it's up there with it. #HollowKnight #Silksong

Ah, I don't know what Splatfest team to join! I love chessmaster, trap-setter, and tricky archetypes, the type that can win a battle before it begins, but I'm also partial death-by-a-thousand cuts speedsters and Raiders' Speed Tank looks so much fun! Speed or Tactics, I don't know! 😭
