I remember travelling on the continent changing currency when entering another country but then came the Euro which stopped that. A fantastic idea but typical Britain pushed it away in favour of keeping Sterling. If this country really wants to rejoin then remove the shackles of imperialism

Change always happens it is inevitable. Change does not happen on my timetable or yours but it will happen. Whether it's the change you want or I want is not guaranteed that's why we keep pushing and campaigning. Remember it took Farage 40 years for his wet dream to happen so live in hope

Did not know it was a brexit anniversary so read your take on it. Well written which brought back memories. Through your threads I have had some interesting conversations. Although brexit was bad I can see it had to happen hopefully the British can start realising that they need to change

I never said it lol. Although I voted remain I have to endure the mess of brexit caused by others. I cannot change that but does not stop me from showing my disapproval, it's called democracy and free speech

If we choose to have a closer relationship with Europe then first figure out what kind of relationship then respectfully ask the EU how do we achieve this...what must we do.

I understand that but that does not mean I agree with it. I know my viewpoint is irrelevant to Europe all I am doing is expressing my viewpoint. Burnham has done the right to mention Brexit, the whole country needs to talk about it and then talk about the direction we take

I don't know why people reading my comments think that I am attacking/blaming Europe or the EU for brexit. People like me don't own brexit what we own is the need to educate and campaign for change in this country. I look to the EU as an example of the direction this country needs to aim for

Although born in this country I have heritage from France,Spain and Portugal and totally understand the frustration you have with the British attitude towards Europe and the rest of the World. I believe change will come but it will take time and my sadness is that it won't be in my lifetime

No collectively Britain does not own Brexit but those that made it happen... And when did I say that it was a matter for Europe or the EU?I make my voice heard as best I can and have always said Britain needs to undergo big changes before it can contemplate a relationship with the EU.

The British government took us out of the EU,the referendum Scotland and Northern Ireland voted remain therefore the referendum should not have gone any further. It was a decision based on fears of the right wing internally and other parties run by Farage. Brexit is a failure of British Democracy

Britain never understood what it meant being in the EU and does not understand what it means being out of the EU. Even the union between England, Wales, Scotland and N Ireland is an unequal partnership. Sadly Britain needs huge changes before contemplating a return to the EU.

I have never considered the union between England, Wales, Scotland and N Ireland as genuine, fair and partnership but while in the EU it did not matter as we were all EU citizens. Westminster more and more is dictariol in matters of the union. Changing the system is very much needed

So why the cull is it to do with controlling numbers due to limited space? What happens to the ones that are culled? Hope you don't mind the questions...

It all starts with a conversation and I am pleased that EU is a topic of conversation. The referendum result was due to organised anti European groups and lies as well as remainers not bothering and no unity with pro European groups

Sad that students wanting to wear eagle feathers or tribal regalia at graduation have to request permission to do so 🙁

The people against Freedom of Movement saw it as a one way Street when in fact it was a two street. It opened new possibilities for everyone in the EU including the UK and loosing it was one of the costs of brexit

I doubt the EU would want us back on previous terms, rejoin must be a new page for UK and EU. First figure out what the UK wants, not what Westminster wants but what England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland wants then discuss/ negotiate with EU members. The EU needs to see a serious commitment

Jaytheoldie @crazycanis64.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Agreed

Jaytheoldie @crazycanis64.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Of course the EU would welcome back the UK but it's wrong to suggest the EU needs us rather than we need them or more accurately we need each other. Why should the EU take us back with original terms?? The UK needs to discuss and debate what we want, get a majority agreement then talk to the EU

Don't forget NF with his constant bleating ever since we joined the EEC later to grow and develop into the EU. Cameron was also worrying about the growing support for the NF nonsense

Jaytheoldie @crazycanis64.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I think that is partly true however many Europeans embrace the journey and understand that together more can be achieved. The problem with Brexit land being European and in the EU was never fully embraced and we wanted special treatment

Jaytheoldie @crazycanis64.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
If NF believes that contemplating a closer relationship with the EU is wrong then he should make his case where rejoin backing is strongest, and for the electorate, groups and politicians back rejoin then work together to campaign and educate. Unity defeats the fascists
000
Jaytheoldie @crazycanis64.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
Typical blame it on the EU let's be honest it is the "UK" that is not ready to rejoin and there is still much debate required between the electorate and the home nations before approaching the EU and discuss rejoining
010
Jaytheoldie @crazycanis64.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
In other words rather than doing what is best for the electorate you will do like the tories and base decisions on how to outdo farage and reform that's why we ended up with brexit

Putin should not be allowed at the meeting. Trump inviting him is once again showing that this President shows favour to the Russian dictator... oops meant President my fingers slipped

As others have said if they have been released on bail then unlikely to be terrorism or national security in which case the public have a right to know what is going on

Jaytheoldie @crazycanis64.bsky.social · 28/09/2026
The way I see it if the Union of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales is to stay intact then rejoining the EU in some form is essential

I grew up in the seventies and I saw much hatred and division it went on through the eighties and nineties, the difference with back then and now is the hatred and division was kept back.

Nothing wrong with being left, right or centre but real politics and democracy should be about coming together and finding solutions for the people instead it's constant arguing and solving nothing.

Trump's invite to Putin is an insult to Ukraine. If Putin wants to return to normal politics then end the war or perhaps Trump can end the war within a day,oh wait he said that prior to being elected I think?!

When a US president treats China and Russia as allies and abandons old allies then clearly he has his own agenda....his only interest is making money and being all powerful by any means necessary
