Most people want to learn how to draw cute girls. Me too. I have to get there by drawing people when they're "ugly." But I've started liking the weirdness more. "Pretty" faces now seem incomplete in some way. Dunno if that's because my own face is changing. Getting older. Will I get used to that?

I wanna skip to the part where I finish writing my book, and after failing to sell it, I decide to self-publish as a web comic. But then I’ll miss out on my 3-part movie saga and HBO spinoff series. What was I talking about again? Oh heads. I can’t tell if I understand the Loomis method or not.

The best thing about learning how to draw later in life is that I’ve already experienced failure. I’m still alive. I no longer obsess over perfection… Well, if we’re being vulnerable together, of course I still do. But now I know that emotional fulfillment, at least, is reached in stages.

Some (read: most) days, everything I draw looks like buns. I have to push through. When I come back to them, I think of my younger self (from 24 hours ago) and how she waited over 10 years just to try. I owe it to her to be a little bit happier with progress. Anyway, I also like drawing buns.

Why feet? I started learning to draw from scratch all over again at my big age. Give me a face, I stare at the page forever, finding every plane incomprehensible. Give me some feet? Great success. Maybe one day, a toe will unlock some part of my brain that allows me to draw a head.
