Went for a run today with my dogs this eve and now I’m in ER with a broken finger. Got caught in the one dog’s harness while we were harassed by an off leash dog. My girl twists, finger goes snap. 70lbs of snaky dog do that. My girls were leashed. If your dog has no recall, then keep it on leash.

On our plane sitting in the tarmac for 20 min waiting to go back to Wpg from Halifax. Flight here was delayed 1.5 hrs to switch planes. Now an intercom or something isn’t working. Toddler in the seat in front of me and behind me. Neither of them are happy right now. I dont have good plane luck.

We are on Cape Breton Island and had supper at the Coastal restaurant in Ingonish Beach. This is The Big Lebowski. 12 oz beef patty stuffed with mushrooms and cheese, slathered in Ringer sauce. Paired with a giant 20oz IPA and this boy is done for the evening.

I am not going back to work for 3 weeks and my phone is set to do not disturb. After working 19hrs straight until I left work yesterday, it may take all 3 weeks to feel normal again. Our healthcare system is not healthy.

Here’s how my last day went. Didn’t see my own bed for 31 hrs and spent 24 of those hrs at work or travelling back and forth. Got into bed finally at 1:30 pm today, woke up at 4, feeling like how Keith Richards looks, caught the replays of F1, and now trying to get motivated to do housework. Ugh

In the past month I have been in contact with measles, rsv, covid, influenza, and TB. All while being protected with ppe. All these pathogens can be found at your local grocery store. Do not take clean air for granted.

Regarding the measles situation down here. Our infection control person chatted with me a couple of days ago. They had been meaning to doublecheck that my antibodies were good because my name kept showing up on the list of contacts for measles exposures at the hospital. Lucky me.

In just over an hour I am going to ride my Fatbike on a ski trail that is on its last legs. I do this every year at the end of the season to usher in spring. With permission of course.Too icy for skiing but perfect for biking. Winter moustache is shaved off. I have done my part to bring spring here.

Going to be working tonight at Childrens. They have been scheduling extra staff for increased workload. That means that the hospital is very full of very sick kids right now. Seeing lots of influenza and more measles than I should ever have to see locally. Please vaccinate your kids.
