Welp I just sold my car, so that's another tie to the old life gone. It was definitely the right thing to do as it's really not needed any more, but there was still a pang seeing it go...

I'm pretty sure this is my pot being packed up...

She's here! After a bit of solo pass the parcel/delicate surgery as I removed the layers of packaging, my beautiful tentacle pot from @roseschmits.bsky.social is free.

For a while now I've promised myself a tentacle pot from @roseschmits.bsky.social as soon as I could afford it. Now in the most first world problem imaginable I need to actually decide which one to get...

There was a beautiful mackerel striped sky early this evening. My photography skills couldn't really do it justice, but it's still awfully pretty...

Ooft. I was not expecting to feel this emotional seeing all the 10k runners out this morning. Nine years on I still miss Dave so much...

Finished sewing the ends in on my scrap yarn crochet blanket squares ready for joining only to find that apparently I can't count. Either that or there's a rogue square lurking somewhere around the house...
Thirty four brightly coloured crochet granny squares laid out in a 5 by 7 grid on a grey carpet. There should have been thirty five, so there's a gap on the top row.

Such an amazing season finale - I want to listen to it again, but definitely need a bit of time to recover emotionally first. Also I love the concept that every moment we've experienced still exists, even if we can't go back there. It's rather comforting when I miss lost loved ones.

The initial crochet octagon appears to have brought some friends along...

I tried to get a photo of the geese as they flew overhead. It went about as well as you'd expect... (I wanted to stay out until the bats came out, but I got too cold.)

One finished crochet blanket ready to go to its new home (my sister has already claimed this one)... Pattern is Aztec Pathways by MLX Creations (free on Ravelry) in various odds and ends of Stylecraft Special DK, with a linen stitch envelope border of my own devising. 🧶

Dear Self - while it is tempting to stay up and finish the very last round of the current #crochet blanket, I'm pretty certain I'd be better off going to sleep instead... Pattern is Aztec Pathways by MLX Creations (free on Ravelry) and yarn is various SSDK leftovers.

The problem with living alone (or at least one of them) is that there's nobody to suggest that it might not be the best idea to fit a slidey baskety thing in the corner kitchen cabinet all by myself. Or at least help me do it...

Earlier today I found some image collages I could have used for last week's #ShowMeYourKnits but fortunately they're all shawls so I can use them for this week instead 🧶
A collage of four lace shawls knitted from the same pattern, which features a stylised flower motif and a scalloped edge.

All four use the Tiong Bahru pattern by Åsa Tricosa and the yarns go from a cobweb weight silk from Fyberspates (top left) to a heavy lace weight merino from Madeline ToshTwo lace shawls knitted from the 1001 nights pattern by Anne-Lise Maigaard. The pale green one in the upper photo uses a cashmere/silk cobweb weight yarn (not sure where it came from) and the striped purple/green one in the lower photo is in my own handspun Two hand knitted shawls using the same pattern - Chasing Rainbows by Boo Knits and the same yarn (Gina mohair/silk lace from Posh Yarn, now sadly discontinued).

The shawl on the left is a soft green with small golden beads and the one on the right is a pinkish mauve Three examples of lace shawls knitted from the Regrowth pattern by Toby MacNutt.

This week's theme for #ShowMeYourKnits is things you've made twice or more. I've got plenty of examples, but my most extreme was knitting Regrowth by Toby MacNutt (available for free on Ravelry) three times in as many months...

The problem with watching live music on the big telly is that instead of the band being tiny specks in the distance (as is only right) I can see them really clearly. And it's making me feel terribly, terribly old. Like who are these middle aged men singing about Coffee and TV?

For only the second time in my adult life, I find myself catless. I'm doing okay - he'd been suffering with dementia for a while and was ready to go - but the house is awfully quiet without him.

It's still far too warm to do anything, so I'm hiding at the shady end of the garden with an iced coffee. There's so much I want to get sorted in the house, but any sort of physical effort and I turn into a soggy pile of goo...

So how has your weekend been? I've spent a good chunk of mine crocheting sparkly rainbow clothing for Fugglers... (Froggy is not my work, but he *is* very cute.)
Two Fugglers in crocheted rainbow outfits are on a green table in a sunny garden. On the left of the photo is a purple one in a freehanded attempt at a playsuit and on the right a green one in a granny hexagon coat. In front of them is a cute green crochet frog.

Did I really need a new e-spinner? Absolutely not. Is it making me very happy nevertheless? Oh yes! Can't do masses of spinning until the tendonitis in my left thumb improves (can't spin with the thumb brace on because velcro) but I had to give it a twirl. 🧶 #spinning

I really wish I'd taken a picture when it was freshly styled before the wind and rain did a number on it, but I got my hair chopped off earlier this week. So glad to be rid of all that straggly damaged hair...

Tiny little joys - the in-store radio at the local supermarket played Hipsway's The Honeythief. I haven't heard that in years. Anyone in a Midlands county town who encountered a middle aged woman singing quietly along, sorry not sorry.

There's a long way to go before it's finished, but at least I've made a start on painting the main bedroom. Once it's done I can move my stuff into it and start on the second bedroom. (I also assembled a king size ottoman bed solo. This was not one of my best ideas.)

First day in the new house and I definitely made the right decision. I'm sure that there will come a point when having family so close by gets a bit much, but at the moment it's nice. And I have drunk fighty octopus coat hooks!

House almost empty. I'm hiding with the cat as I'm too exhausted to do any more. On the plus side, the first van is already on the way (2 smaller vans as access isn't great here) and my mum has picked up the keys to the new place.

Some properly vintage cable knits for #ShowMeYourKnits - I'm afraid I don't have pattern or yarn details (beyond bog-standard acrylic/wool blend aran weight) as the one on the left is at least 30 years old, and the other not much newer.
Two rather old hand knitted cabled sweaters. The one on the left has multiple cable patterns in a traditional cream coloured yarn, while the one on the right has simple braided cables in cream yarn with brown nepps
