Nightmare in Space this one turned out a lot more chill and atmospheric than I initially intended

Sorry I haven't posted here in so long 😰 here's a weird little song I wrote today called "Time Is"

132

🦭 Crabeater 🦭 @crabeatermusic.bsky.social · 23/03/2026

This is the song I've been writing today. It's called "Melody Fades Away" I realized I've literally never written a song with lyrics in third person so this is kinda practice for that. I'm trying to challenge myself to write about a character that is definitely not myself and to be more descriptive

Sorry I haven't posted here in so long!! But I am making very good progress on album 4 recently. Here's a bit that I wrote earlier today. this part of the song is about having an existential crisis... or something like that

🦭 Crabeater 🦭 @crabeatermusic.bsky.social · 24/01/2026

Reflection of the Stars It has weird juxtaposition of two very different moods but I kinda like that (very much a work in progress)

This week instead of a relatively complete track, I have a messy raw recording of me coming up with a melody in real time. This file is called "Cool Chime thing" and it's apparently from March 2025. I don't really remember this but I'm inclined to agree with past self that it is in fact pretty cool

011

🦭 Crabeater 🦭 @crabeatermusic.bsky.social · 10/11/2025

This week is "Falling Action" from July 2020. The idea was that the piece starts out very intense and quickly reaches a climax, then the rest is just slowly winding down, which I think lends it a cool structure. Unfortunately it's too long for bsky so I had to leave out the last, most lowkey section

011

🦭 Crabeater 🦭 @crabeatermusic.bsky.social · 01/11/2025

This is "Torsional Collapse" a little song I wrote last night. It's a bit rough but I really like it. I think I'm starting to form a idea of what the next album I write (which would be my 5th album) is going to be and this song is definitely on the shortlist for it #electronicmusic #indiemusic

To make up for the fact that I forgot to post a song last week, here's a preview of a song from my next album. This song is called "Out There". I finished writing this album just over a year ago, before I'd even released Anxiety Odyssey. I'm excited to finally put it out soon!!... probably...

🦭 Crabeater 🦭 @crabeatermusic.bsky.social · 27/09/2025

This week is "Life in the Void", a funky little tune I've been working on this month. It's meant to loop seamlessly but the little pick up at the beginning makes it not really work in the video :( so I included two iterations of the loop #CrabeatersSongOfTheWeek #electronicmusic #indiemusic

🦭 Crabeater 🦭 @crabeatermusic.bsky.social · 21/09/2025

This is "Human?" from May 2020. I was in an undergrad dystopian sci-fi literature course and we had these weekly written prompts but if you didn't want to deal with that one week you could just make a piece of art abt the subject lol. So thats what this was #CrabeatersSongOfTheWeek #electronicmusic

This week is "Sleepy Time" from February 2023. Unfortunately the Ableton project file for this one is lost to time so you get this very small jpeg instead. It's about 50 seconds too long for bsky video so I had to cut out a bit at the beginning #CrabeatersSongOfTheWeek #electronicmusic #indiemusic

sorry I forgot to post a song of the week last weekend To make up for it, here's a preview of a song that's on my next album!! This is "Time Won't Stop For You" from April 2024. This album is comparatively a lot more chill than Lonely Night #CrabeatersSongOfTheWeek #electronicmusic #indiemusic

This week is "Walkin' and Talkin'" from a few days ago. It's just a little thing I wrote to unwind after the stress of finalizing an album. Since I have to export it as a video file for bsky anyways I figured I'd try showing the Ableton playback #CrabeatersSongOfTheWeek #electronicmusic #indiemusic

This week is Burnt Out Star from September 2022. I really like this one, it's been under consideration for my albums multiple times but I've never found a place for it. It's a shame I can't include the full piece here. It's about 4 and a half minutes long. #CrabeatersSongOfTheWeek #indiemusic

Sorry for the delay (again)!! This week is "11 Seconds of Music" from 2017. In high school I was editing a video for a group project about Joseph Stalin and there was an 11 second clip that we didn't have any music for so I wrote this lol #CrabeatersSongOfTheWeek #percussion #indiemusic

This week is "Janky Factory Music" from May 2021. 011

🦭 Crabeater 🦭 @crabeatermusic.bsky.social · 13/04/2025

This week is "Canon 4 - Frigid Peak" from I think 2018. I had a whole series of canons that I wrote for mallet percussion and this one is my favorite. It is four vibraphones playing the same part offset by a dotted quarter note. #CrabeatersSongOfTheWeek #percussion #indiemusic

121

🦭 Crabeater 🦭 @crabeatermusic.bsky.social · 05/04/2025

This week is "Geb" from like 2017-2019ish idk. This is the entire piece. I was pretty big into writing for mallet percussion in high school. This one is specifically a mallet quartet for two marimbas and two vibraphones. #CrabeatersSongOfTheWeek #percussion #malletpercussion #indiemusic

🦭 Crabeater 🦭 @crabeatermusic.bsky.social · 29/03/2025

This week is "Natural Decay" from May 2020. This was my attempt at writing a prog rock epic. The full piece has 4 movements and spans about 12 minutes. And a lot of it is not very good imo. This part is the very end and it's by far the best part. #CrabeatersSongOfTheWeek #prog #indiemusic

In the time it took me to mix and master Anxiety Odyssey (it was a very long time 😰) I kept writing more songs and I ended up writing two more full albums by the time I released Anxiety Odyssey. They're both very far from being ready but I'll work hard to get them both out in 2025!!
