I promised someone photos of my #CargoBike sticker collection! Can't remember who, but here it is... #BikeTooter
Photo of the side of a cargo bike. Stickers on it say "No Room for Racism" (in the colours of the Aboriginal flag); "Stop the Chop #ForestsFor Climate"; "Sanction Israel Now"; "My other car is a bike"; "The only data centre I support is the library"; and "Ea-Nasir quality copper".Photo of the side of an Urban Arrow cargo bike. Stickers on it read, "Bike Lanes Save Lives"; "Yes" (a reference to the Australian referendum on the Voice); "Cities aren't loud, cars are loud"; "Nobody's free until everybody's free" (in the colours of the Palestinian flag"; "Protect the Kimberley"; "#Fediverse" and "Save Burswood Park".

It was great to join other locals this weekend picking up rubbish down by the Boorloo Bridge. I got a first-hand view of why this work matters: I saw this mimal with rubbish tangled around their beak. When I sent through images to the seabird rescue team […] [Original post on urbanists.social]

I stopped at the river this afternoon and while my three year old ate his icecream I collected these two plastic bags and all the rubbish in them from less than two metres of beach. Is this how we want to live?
Two bread bags held up by the river side, each full of plastic rubbish

Today Noongar elders are working with Noongar people from the area, staff from DFES, Curtin, and the Town of Vic Park, and others to perform cultural burning at the Hillview bushland. This has taken many years of organising work, and I could see how deep […] [Original post on urbanists.social]
Image of a bushland. In the distance a small group of people is visible, tending to fire. Smoke rises.

I celebrated #WorldBicycleDay by continuing to bike everywhere, like I do most days.
Photo taken outside of Urban Revolution. One of the staff is standing outside the shop laughing. In the foreground is a cargo bike with a large compost bin on it. Peeking out below the bin are my kid's legs. You can't hear because it's a photo, but she's giggling.

Tonight my seven-year-old and I went on a family-friendly group ride, and it was glorious! We went over the Boorloo Bridges, a ride of over 8km there and back with some steep hills. I didn't think my kid would make it, but she did, mostly riding up the […] [Original post on urbanists.social]
A group of people cycling on the road. Some are small children, some adults, some cargo bikes.
