Hungarians wanted full separation basically. Hungarian schools with Hungarian programs, Ukrainian perhaps as an optional subject, if children want it (of course normal children don't want any subjects). But I have hopes for a new FM, that she'll have the guts to just resolve it and move on.

They are studying like this now as far as I am aware. They study in Hungarian towns, where teachers are also Hungarians, so they can speak their language. But the school program includes Ukrainian, Ukrainian literature, and Ukrainian history.

Wrong question. What they are demanding isn't a bilingual option. They demand for Hungarians to study in Hungarian. Math in Hungarian, History in Hungarian, Literature in Hungarian. Your question would be relevant if Zelenskyy spoke ONLY Russian.

In Crima, prior to the 2014 occupation, due to the pressure from the Kremlin, there were a total of about 7 out of 600 schools, where Ukrainian was a primary language. And this became a hybrid warfare instrument in further occupation of the peninsula.

This thing has been dragging for over 15 years. HU position is understandable, but UA has been situated in a position, where if it granted HU minority the right to fully self-determine the education language, it should grant it to all Russian speakers too. Which would be the end of Ukraine.

I can't even explain to you how much I respect Anita Orban. Her 2008 book Power, Energy, and the New Russian Imperialism is truly prophetic. That being said, Hungary should really stop supporting Russian imperialistic arguments about Russian speaking people with this education subject.
