A rather surprising retirement to be sure, but in all fariness Norman was flagging a bit, especially last season. At his peak, however, he was a supremely effective defender, and goes out having tasted Champions League action! #CanPL #Analytics

Adekugbe had a fair number of very good seasons, but a few duds, notably two in the last three years, which probably led to his signing elsewhere. Still, one of the better passers this league has seen, and he will be missed! #CanPL #Analytics

One of the all-time CPL stalwarts! Never ranking too highly (partially due to his versatility), but season after season of consistent performances, and much silverware, rank him among the CPL greats! #CanPL #ForgeFC #Analytics

Themi cooled off a little last season from his incredible 2024, because although he improved offensively, the rest of this game suffered. Still a massive loss to the Canadian game as he transfers south of the border. #CanPL #Analytics

Sturing in 2025 was, and has historically been, a generally unremarkable CB. Perfectly average compared to his peers, with no noticiable flaws or weaknesses. This can be considered good or bad depending on your point of view. #CanPL #InterToronto #Analytics

Brett Levis has seemingly announced his retirement on social media! During his time in Winnipeg, he was one of the best FBs in the league, and after his return from a brief USL hiatus he was a solid depth CB option on a title-winning team. All the best Brett! #CanPL #Analytics

Coimbra impressed and improved during his three seasons in the CPL, culminating in a permanent starter role last season and a U21 player award. This transfer is a testament to the developmental nature of this league and his quality as a young player! #CanPL #TogetherFromAways #Analytics

Holding out on this type of player was a choice from Forge, and it has now come back to bite them in a big way. Badibanga in 2024 was an extremely direct and dangerous winger, and if he doesn't miss a step will be a weapon for Inter this season. #CanPL #InterToronto #Analytics

Hojabrpour is absolutely one of the better success stories of the CPL thus far. Perhaps it wasn't the springboard for a young player like other examples, but he developed in this league from a bit player to key contributer, and now is playing in Europe! #CanPL #ForgeFC #Analytics

Reid was an extremely dynamic attacking threat for York last season, someone who was probably serially underutilized in his time in the CPL. It's a shame we never saw him for a better team in a more consistent role. #CanPL #Analytics #USLChampionship

At best, Vehoeven was only an average player during his time in the CPL, posting his best season in 2019 but never again reaching those heights. His passing was always a strong suit, but his other metrics dragged him down. A fine career, and leaves the league a champion! #CanPL #Analytics

Gutierrez did not have stats recorded for him this season, and I am sure he played better than Shome. Neverthless, Shome continues to be a minute muncher despite his historically poor metrics. He will probably get a contract at this level despite...everything. #CanPL #Analytics

Benati was an alright midfield option off the bench in Ottawa, and who was a better threat offensively than a help defensively. She will most likely get more minutes in Halifax, so still room to see her full potential. #NSL #RiseTogether #Analytics

Pechersky has signed for the Roses! Ranking as the best player in the league last season, she is very good at recovering the ball and on ground duels, and ranks the highest in foul differential. Her one real weakness is in defensive actions. Amazing signing! #NSL #AllezLesRoses #Analytics

A stalwart in the AFC Toronto midfield, Regan showed few weaknesses going forward, but was a little rough in duels and defensive actions. She was particularly good at her passing success rates. Great move for her! #NSL #RunItOurWay #Analytics

Excellent acquisition (re-acquisition?) for Ottawa. Mbomio instantly became the best CB on the team when he arrived, and to get him for longer than his initial short-term loan is huge. #CanPL #InterToronto #Analytics

While getting up there, Lopez played very well off the bench for York Uni- I mean Inter Toronto, even if his WPA suggests otherwise. More opportunity might have paid off on the pitch both for him and his club. #CanPL #InterToronto #Analytics

I find it shocking that a talented midfielder forced to play out of position as a closer would leave for greener pastures and the opportunity to play full 90s. Nevertheless, she played well in her role and leaves a champion! #NSL #StrongerByNature #Analytics

Golen recently extended with the Rapid, a good get for them. Her numbers are a little variable, but she was one of the better wingers in a weak 2025 NSL class. Good potential here. #NSL #OttawaRapid #Analytics

Chang was one of the best players in the league last year, so this is a shock, unless it is for better things, given she is still young. She doesn't have any standout attributes, but is very well-rounded, if a little offensive minded. Tough loss for the Rise. #NSL #StrongerByNature #Analytics

Abathneh's hyper-inflated short passing and touches stats are doing a lot of heavy lifting for an already medicore WPA grade, but he has definitely increased his defensive prowess from last season. Rumoured for a move, this will only increase his stock. #CanMNT #CanPL #ForOttawa #Analytics

Mekideche's rating is a little inflated given his underlying numbers, so this move isn't too surprising. He showed promise last season, with a good base in a smaller sample, but wasn't able to build on that. He would've still been a good option for most CPL clubs mind. #CanPL #ForTheIsle #Analytics

Great retention for Forge, as per usual. Ampomah also showed out to be a great crosser and tackler, and all-around his offence was stellar, but his shorter passing leaves room for improvement. He also contributed less on defence than his peers. #CanPL #ForgeFC #Analytics

The CPL's loss is the USL's gain! These are very solid numbers for a young defender, even his duel success rates, which usually are weak for players his age. Starting with a base such as this, I expect a lot from him in the future! #CanPL #USL #Analytics

In a smallish sample, Koninicks graded out pretty well! He ranked above average in all the metrics I expect for an impact CB (especially ball control) although I would like to see improvement with his physicality and ball recovery - those should come with time though. #CanPL #ForTheIsle #Analytics

Statistically, Reid headlines this bunch. He has always looked good according to my work, however, he has never really been given the run of play I would expect given his rate impact. I think most clubs would do well to sign him, or any one of this group (save maybe Ferazzo). #CanPL #Analytics

I am sorely behind on NSL player movement, but Downing to the Tides is a welcome reinforcement for a team bereft of talent last year. A smaller sample to be sure, but assuming she becomes a main option for Halifax, she is sure to put up big numbers in 2026! #NSL #RiseTogether #Analytics

A play much sought after in the CPL I am sure, the young striker put up very good numbers for Valour this past campaign. I would caution that good players on bad teams often get inflated statistical profiles, but the sky is the limit for Morgan with this base to work with! #CanPL #Analytics

A little late, but DB Pridham has been called up to the National Team! Like Salter before her, she was the best striker in the league, even if the rate metrics are not as kind to her. She also took on a lot of duels, making up for her mediocre success rate. Well deserved! #CanPL #Analytics

Given the run of the wing in Valour, Twardek was only a replacement-level winger. His main strength was his crossing, which came mostly from pure volume, and his aerials. Last year, when he played more of a FB/WB type, he profiled much better, albeit in a smaller sample size. #CanPL #Analytics
