Me: gotta get up super early tomorrow. Let's get to bed early. *Miraculously does go to bed* My dumb brain: stresses about every tiny aspect of upcoming morning for hours on end. Me: still awake an hour before alarm is due to sound. Haven't slept a wink.

Me too! Fairy tales are so fun to begin with, and it was a blast to write with a group of other authors. Truly one-of-a-kind piece of fiction here.

Thanks, yeah. We have a contract. We just didn't want one person to have to collect and divvy royalties for forever or to pay to create and maintain a business and everything that comes with that. Seems we're paying for it either way. /// And thanks! Hopefully I can share that story someday ☺️

CP Ashton - querying FIREFLY x PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN @cpashton.bsky.social · 02/01/2026

Hey #indieauthor and #writingcommunity! How is everyone handling royalty splitting among a group of authors? Draft2Digital's cut of print royalties, just standing between us and Ingram is WAY too steep. But it doesn't seem #IngramSpark supports royalty splitting on their end. Options? I'm at a loss.

I turned on Home Alone for my kids. I forgot '90s PG is very different from 2025 PG. 😨 Naturally, they thought it was the greatest thing they'd ever seen. Ha ha 😅 Well, I suppose I turned out (reasonably) okay watching it at their age back in the day. 🤦‍♀️ #parenting #millenial #christmas #holidays

We made it. My kids are finally old enough to watch Pirates of the Caribbean. It's still SO good. I friggen love this movie. There's no getting around it. The book I #amquerying is absolutely Pirates meets Firefly. Adventure, humor, action, high-stakes, sword fights, magic, warm fuzzies. The end.

This damn wig was starting to itch. I could feel the sweat collecting under it from the midday heat and had to resist the urge to scratch at my head. Or better yet, rip the thing off. The impulse that was becoming difficult to ignore as I waited for my target to leave her ridiculously long lunch.

At least I’d have time to study the flowers. After all, I’d risked everything to do so—my family, my career, my future. The letter my dad had written to me felt like fire in my pocket. I pulled it out and unfolded it once more. It had only been in my possession for two days, but it was worn and wrinkled from the dozens of times I had read it.

Clever
Hana Maren Godfrey
“Your cloak, Sister,” Leonora whispered in the moonlight. She smoothed the invisible fabric over Berenice’s petite frame, blotting the girl from view under its ephemeral gauze. “Hold it closed, here.”

The child balled her fists around the seams, securing the two halves of the cloak together, and lowered her freckled face beneath the billowing hood. It was as though the night had eaten her. Yet Leonora could sense Berenice there, feel her younger sibling’s warmth as she turned to
follow their unseen sisters into the wood.
