I’ll play a land and PASS and this guy was like “hmmmm, what to do now” do you have a plan? Are you having to read every card and the rules again on every turn? You can do that on my turn too. I didn’t even change the board state brother there’s nothing to react to

Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 09/10/2026
I like Magic but holy hell I’m impatient. In Arena especially, it’s a phone game. People will sit there with 3 cards in their hand and think for the full 4 minutes. The only state change is one new card. You telling me that card took 4 min to read and understand and rework all your grand plans

Finally learned how to play Magic, got a starter deck. It was fun, and I get my deck pretty well, knew what I was hoping to get. Did not get combat very well, because it’s so dang hard to understand other people’s shit too haha.

Nathan’s body of work, imo, has been an evolving analysis of media’s attempts and his own genuine attempts to capture the essence of true reality on TV, or prove that it’s impossible, with jokes. Closest thing I’ve seen to this outside of Nathan is Jury Duty btw.

Just like the actual subject of a lot of Nathan’s work. It’s an ever evolving part of culture. We don’t interface with reality TV the same way we did 20 years ago. And we won’t interface the same 20 years from now

I don’t know exactly what Nathan is trying to say. I don’t think even he knows it quite yet. Hes got a really good idea, perspective. He’s thinking about this idea and exploring it with art, trying to figure it out. I don’t think he would say “yeah, that’s it, you get it”. It’s a work in progress

Anyway, it convinces a lot of people. It seems super real. You fight for these people. You defend them. You hate them. You believe in them. Just like Remy believed in Nathan’s character.

Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 06/10/2026
Nat Geo is like, the most real reality TV possible, because the subjects are unaware they are on TV. Even Truman show is like, pretty close, but not quite, cause everyone else is acting. And with real TV we’ve decided it’s actually not ok to put someone on TV without consent.

Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 06/10/2026
We want it to be real so bad. The TV does everything it can to convince us this is real. And sometimes the show genuinely is trying to capture reality, like Nathan often does. But the very nature of producing a show affects how real it can actually be.

Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 06/10/2026
Hear an idea. Remy, the kid who conflates acting with real life and wants Nathan to be his real dad in the finale, is a representation of how we all interact with reality TV.

Eagle eyes viewers will notice my previous recorded solve was 24 seconds lol

Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 05/10/2026
It’s tough trying to record a cube solve to post because yeah my record is 11 seconds, I can rip a 15 second avg. on camera though? Lucky to catch a single sub 20.

Okay hold up. MGS4 is fucking awesome. I think 3 lost me because there wasn’t enough gameplay space for the game to breathe. In 4 they just drop you in a warzone and it’s awesome! Still sneaking but sneaking around a battlefield, so far it’s my favorite.

I’m so glad to have this on switch. I can just turn it off and resume anytime I want. I would not have the patience to sit through this 8 hour movie on my PC

I like that they officially call him Old Snake in MGS4. I also like that instead of stamina it’s stress levels lol

Alright so this was absolutely a movie about depression but I was depressed during covid so I think about it as my covid movie. But if you watch this in 50 years youd have to really already know about covid for the context that I personally have. Still holds up, 9/10

Ok I’m not going to lie Problematic is maybe not like super relatable or feels very in touch. I dunno, maybe it just got the wrong vibe. I guess I just don’t relate, I was not problematic, I didn’t post dumb offensive shit to the Internet. But I also didn’t watch Family Guy so we’re different lol

Plus he blurred the lines so well. It felt real in a way like nothing else on Netflix really can ever feel. Felt like an old youtube video. Such a meticulously crafted thing trying to look like it wasn’t meticulously crafted. I love a polish where the final result is supposed to look unpolished.

Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 03/10/2026
Inside is a good movie about how Covid felt. I feel like it’s also a lot about the other stuff Bo was going through but we all kinda got there in our own away about all our own shit with all the alone time. Pressure to do something but literally nothing to do.

I’m still going to watch the new ones but lemme tell you seeing that military general guy back on the cast for Avatar 2 does not bode well.
000
Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 02/10/2026
I thought having almost 15 years between me and Avatar would help me appreciate it more for what it is on the second viewing. Nope, now the CGI just looks like video game cutscenes half the time, it arguably has not aged well at all lol

I’m absolutely leaning deeply into the themes and vlogbrothers philosophy that I love so much, this was written for me specifically hah. My rating and review to like an outsider is 4/5, it’s a joy to read and hits on super interesting and relevant themes, even though Juniper is not the best narrator

Another thing I cannot shake is the idea that trauma is never over. You keep just surviving, and surviving. You don’t get through it. It never gets better, easier. That’s a hard thing to talk about. But John approached it in a beautiful way that genuinely made me cry. Thank you John for being honest

Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 02/10/2026
And that’s why I’m a big fan. I love anything that leaves me thinking, they’ve expressed a thought I myself cannot express and cannot even regurgitate accurately. The book explains a very complicated a nuanced perspective on art and its relationship to artists and fame and its relationship to people
100
Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 02/10/2026
Anyway, that’s where the “what you want might not always align with what you want to want” I think means. I had to read that sentence like 5 times to actually understand it. The book def says something I cannot summarize in a single tweet, the book is required reading to fully grasp the idea
100
Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 02/10/2026
The idea is, I’ve been as public as I have intended to be about it, and this question is taking advantage of that to pry further. Which will cause people to speculate. You give parts of yourself away to “the public” or “fans” or whoever is interested and they take it and they never give it back.
100
Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 01/10/2026
John has earnestly said the phrase “You’ve been very public about this” is just an excuse to ask a very intrusive question about someone’s life. This book is about that. How being public facing and “famous” opens up the doors for people to pry into and speculate on your actual life.
100
Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 01/10/2026
I also think a lot about John. I watch his videos, I’ve heard probably hundreds of hours of him talking to his audience. I know he doesn’t like putting himself out there, but can’t help doing it as a writer. People want to associate things in the book with his life, ask him in appropriate questions

This book is kind of about how to operate that suit all the while not letting yourself become obsessed with being a mech pilot, with the size, the power, the fame. Hold onto yourself, don’t become the mech, like everyone else perceives you. Want the things you want, not what you’re supposed to want
100
Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 01/10/2026
Just going to continue processing Hollywood Ending here, this is my book report. I’ve never stopped thinking about Hanks “giant mech suit” metaphor for fame. You have to give up yourself to the public, you aren’t you to them, you are the mech.
100
Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 01/10/2026
I also keep thinking about that concept of, what do you want? And what do you want to want? Do you want the things you want because you’re supposed to want them
100
Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 01/10/2026
I honestly wasn’t sure how I’d feel about it after the first chunk, I didn’t like the first Juniper bit, not super likable or relatable. But this was intentional, she has a lot of character development to do haha

Kerensa and I are thinking about being Elizabeth Holmes and Nathan Fielder for Halloween. I do think I am going to end up being Elizabeth Holmes simply because we don’t want to wear wigs with opposite hair colors lol

John Greens first adult fiction book actually features 22 year olds and remains pretty in line with his style and this guy is not complaining! But if you didn’t like his YA style this ain’t gunna be your thing either.

The thing I appreciate the most is that MGSV gameplay is the accumulation of 30 years of refining of a genre he basically invented himself. Constantly battling hardware limits And it really explains why it feels so damn good to play.

Tough to judge the metal gear games going through them for the first time. They all have elements I really like, but 3 is the first one where I’m finally not fighting the game itself as much, besides the insane controls, but I’m getting used to those

12 annual Pizzamas is here! It’s unbelievable how much mileage Pizza John has gotten. A joke so dumb and so old and so meaningless that the ol “I don’t get it, what’s the joke?” question literally popped up year one. Pizzamas is the joke, this is the joke. The commitment to the bit, impeccable.

The twist in MGS2 and the new “Metal Gear” weapon actually being complete control over the flow of information online instead of a classic nuke is extremely good.

Can’t belive I’ve slept on Metal Gear so long (Besides Phantom Pain) because Kojima knows what a video game is and has clearly always been pushing the envelope from the very beginning

First MGS2 boss fight has a part where the boss shoots off a couple anchors from a tarp and it starts flapping in the wind and you have to shoot her through this tarp that’s flapping in the wind. Back in 2003 that’s the kind of shit that was mind blowing

Jay Fitz @cowsarein.me · 17/09/2026
Granted I am playing the HD remakes but even MGS1 was just like, blobs vibrating around. Now we got emotions. Models that don’t look insane when upscaled

Brother the graphical upgrade from Metal Gear to Metal Gear Solid was INSANE. SNES to PS1, 3D. And then, the jump from MGS1 to MGS2 is also INSANE. The detail, the fidelity, the ability to aim and shoot in first person. They make it raining the whole time BECAUSE THEY CAN and it looks awesome

And best of all, it actually did help me understand Metal Gear V a TON. I had no idea what was going on in that game and barely even understood there was a twist, let alone what it even was. The first game is seriously all about what’s going on over there haha

I got stuck on the tower because I had 1 ration and there’s no way to avoid fighting 50 dudes in a row. Beat it by backtracking for more supplies, you can go back through the ENTIRE facility anytime you want
