You never know what someone else is going through, and everyone is going through something. Don’t let your perception of someone’s else’s success drive you to self-sabotage. That person could may as well be struggling even worse than you. Being kind is cool. 💋

We owe it to each other as sex workers to protect one another during this trump administration and scary, scary times. We are all we’ve got. Tearing each other down is violent and dangerous, and I just won’t do it. ♥️

I love the way BlueSky seems to encourage getting lost in an article, reading a blog post, or clicking to dive in to a website. I seriously cannot believe how badly other platforms fucked themselves with the algorithms. This app has me back to reading!

So much emphasis around feminism and porn and ethics still centers itself of things like casting and distribution, but I’d like to start making the argument that feminism and porn are allies in fighting poverty. Sex work saved me. And I still sell nudes to stay housed. And I’m forever thankful.

Courtney Trouble @courtneytrouble.com · 24/04/2025

I…. Don’t know my porn anniversary. The first time I took nudes to sell was when I was 17, I know that wasn’t in any way legal but I was born in poverty and kinda stayed there, survival was the game from the get go. I’m not sure that’s widely known about my past.

Some people start bands. Some people write zines or scream into mics. Some people fuck on camera. It’s all catharsis. It’s all performance. It’s all art. Porn is just as raw, just as real, just as public. Don’t let shame decide what counts.

*I am not defaulting due to forbearance and do not make wages as a self employed artist, but my heart is breaking for those impacted directly, and am smart enough to know how this effects us all… because I took out loans and went to college 😭

Courtney Trouble @courtneytrouble.com · 23/04/2025

We were raised in the 90s being told college was the only way to make it. Now 5.7 million of us are getting our wages garnished for defaulting on student loans. We got scammed, and now we’re being punished for being broke and educated enough to know it.

Censorship doesn’t just ban content—it increases surveillance. We’ve seen it before: obscenity laws justified raids, bans on sex work enabled policing of marginalized people, and now anti-porn measures push for monitoring online activity. Who gets watched/ punished? It’s never just about porn.

Porn bans don’t stop at porn. Once a government or platform decides ‘this is too explicit,’ it’s only a matter of time before LGBTQ+ content, sex education, and even reproductive health resources get caught in the dragnet. We’ve seen it before, and we’ll see it again—unless we fight back.

In the early 2000s I worked for a phone sex line pretending to be a horny college coed in Ohio. I had to fake team spirit and frat party vibes I never lived through. Most of the job was improv.

Sex workers aren’t the problem and if more people were capable of realizing this (as well as respecting the separation of church and state, and reaching class consciousness) we could maybe eventually have nice things again in this failing ass country.

Screenshot from Psychology Today article:

“Clinically, what these findings mean is that instead of assessing porn use in people who seek help for porn-related issues, clinicians and therapists should be assessing a person's moral attitudes toward porn, as well as their level of religiosity. In therapy, instead of trying to change people's porn use patterns, we should instead be focused on helping them make their values and behaviors congruent, and learning to understand and recognize the impact of their moral beliefs. This conflict between morality and sexual behaviors may be resolved by changing one's sexual behaviors or by changing one's values or simply by helping people become conscious and mindful of this internal conflict.
Many of the moral values we were raised with, about sex, race or gender, are no longer fully applicable to the modern world.
Because of religious opposition to sexual education, many people struggling with masturbation don't understand what is normal, or that their sexual interests are healthy.”

No, really—the way Bluesky treats me and my content makes it so clear: I wasn’t failing. I wasn’t making work people didn’t want to see. It was the platform. All those waves of feeling invisible, discouraged, isolated—that wasn’t about me. That’s trauma I’m only just beginning to name.

Courtney Trouble @courtneytrouble.com · 07/04/2025

Wild how I can post about queer porn, sex work, censorship, and desire on Bluesky without getting shadowbanned. Meanwhile, Meta, Tumblr, and Twitter treat my work like it’s radioactive. It’s almost like the problem was never the content—it’s who they let be visible.

Aces belong in queer community, in porn discourse, and in every conversation about consent and bodily autonomy. You don’t have to want sex to deserve pleasure, respect, and representation.
