I'm a 70 year old, retired Respiratory Care Practitioner. I'm a Christian, and Conservative. I'm not far right, but do lean towards those MAGA principles of logic and reasonableness. I'm a Trump supporter but not a cult follower of all things Trumpian!

Not all of us Conservative Republicans are hateful like that guy is! I don't know how anyone can celebrate the death of Jimmy Carter? He can be an ineffective President, yet not getting body slammed for his person hood! He was a sincere, good, and kind man.

The Apostle Paul was very down on homosexuality. But he was more likened to a reactionary homophobic man, in my humble opinion that is!

No condemnation was the appropriate response, Mr President. A man ahead of the times...

That's okay about going through normal channels, to getting me the information that you have to share with me. It's not that I'm needing to be clandestine about it all. lol 😅

What makes you say that the GOP has no interest in governing. Based upon the number of bills passed alone, is hardly a barometer reading of the desire to governing.

Carter won by just over one million votes against Ford in the 1976 Presidential election, and he won 297 electoral votes to Ford's 240. The election really wasn't as close as people generally claimed that it was.

Charlotte, you're right about me not using MAGA. Maybe just referencing myself as a Conservative Republican would be a better fit for me. But I'm not an abortion hater. I do believe that a woman should have the power of choice and choosing. There are some things I'm more liberal-mindedness about.

Okay, that'd be a big help, since I'm not too well versed in how to approach the Trans woman correctly or properly. I don't mean any offense with my choice of verbage used by myself. But I'd be happy to being provided a reading list...

Drugs don't change height, but it surely changes everything else! I must say that I don't follow along with the Trans issues too much at all. But I don't believe that a born male sex Trans should interplay professionally with women. The fact of the matter is that you can't change biology!

Ones that are true patriots, who want to seeing America returning to her roots foundation of greatness and hope. That's the crux of MAGA principles that I believe in. Many organizations have their serious faults. We could all name them easily, I suppose. All organizations have their issues, period!

Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
Yeah, I can't really argue too much against your points. And I do despise bigotry! And Trump does exude that complexity of a bigots perspective, and to many things. But I still love the things that he did in office the first time. Jeez, I just saw a need flash, President Jimmy Carter has died. 😔

He's a very difficult person, a much too stubborn of a man. And you're right, he'll never back down from or about anything. He can't admit that he ever makes mistakes. And he has some traits and responses that are way too far over the top. Yet, he was a good President, accomplishing much good work.

I'm seeing good points about my definition of MAGA. I just want to see an America reborn, that is once again the greatest nation in the world, just as she once was. I want Lady Liberty's light to shine brightly again. I want to see civil discourse revived once more. I want rogue nations kept inline.

Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
Your argument is compelling. And no, I haven't spent time with people that are MAGA doing evil doer's deeds! But then, perhaps I've been a bit nieve in my claiming of the MAGA title for my beliefs... I just want to see America become more civil again. I want to see the America I once knew revived.
100
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
Hmm, you present some good arguments. But I believe that Trump's views of the country are overall for the good, even the better. Perhaps I should reevaluate myself, in referencing and regarding the MAGA stigma as something I call harmless to the vast majority of adherents? That's been my experience

Didn't Phelps use anabolic steroids? I thought 💭 that I recalled that?? I'm very concerned with women being terribly disadvantaged by former males who have transed. And they're losing everytime a trans seems to compete against them. Perhaps trans athletes should have their own separate competitions?
100
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
Perhaps your right about that. The MAGA movement certainly has its detractors! And I'm learning some things about it that has me concerned. I don't carry placards that advertise MAGA. I've only believed a message that states: We want to make America well, and the reviving of that message again!

I personally would protect any woman's right to choose. I don't think that abortion should be legal right up to delivery, however. And do I know where to actually drawing the line at? No, I honestly don't...

Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
Jeez, I mean, I can't say what my wife would've done? But I can't ask her, because she's no longer here. But I wouldn't have done anything about it if a person entered my rest room with long hair, a dress and high heels on, even if I thought it was perhaps a "woman?" IDK how to answer that, frankly.
000
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
That's a long and complex question. But I don't necessarily agree with President Trump wholeheartedly or Carte Blanc, either! I support his idea for trying to get America back to her roots. And I commend him for his attempts to reaching out to minorities, and to all people, regardless of politics.
210
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
I don't personally believe in abortion. But I agree that it should be a personal choice and freedom for any woman to choose! Trans athletes should not be a part of women's sports, because of the biological advantage built-in to them, but not because they're Trans! I do believe in personal freedoms.

Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
Well, I don't lie or feel badly about my Republican roots and personal political stance and standards. I'm not a person of wealth or rich fame, by any means! But the Republican party won the 2024 elections for a reason. Perhaps your side could've and should've come out to the polls stronger? IDK??!!

Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
How is ALL of MAGA fascism? Is it November 6 that makes you feel this way? Hell, even I don't like what happened on that date and day! And I don't always like what I see within the MAGA movement, either! Maybe I shouldn't utilize the term in every referencing of myself, so as not to causing offense.
100
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
And maybe you just have a valid point! But if I thought and believed that MAGA was purely evil, then I wouldn't associate myself with the term. After all, I can be a Republican by not being MAGA. Not even President Biden is despising of ALL Republicans who claims MAGA principles.
100
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
But your making all Republicans into the image of Trump! Which is a far, far different place to where many of my ideas and beliefs are, and wherein they lie at and in. Some of Trump's message aggravates me, too at times!! But I don't throw the proverbial baby out with the bathwater, either!!!!

Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
Perhaps I need to having a greater dialogue discussion with people who don't see things as I do, in a place whereby I can examine my own perspective's ideas of thinking. My thoughts and ideas aren't Gospel truth! They are just that, my own thoughts and thinking, things that can be flawed at times.

Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
What unites me to the broader idea aspect of the term MAGA, is for me to looking in at the America I think it is, where it once was when I was growing up and on into young adulthood. It truly was a different America than what I see today - a country divided and at tremendous odds with one another.
000
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
Trump created the MAGA idea, by his to trying and attempting in creating a movement of both thought and ideas, whereby everyday Americans can take a more out of the box viewing at their circumstances. And to having an introspective look at where they might actually and really lie in their thinking.
010
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
No, I'm actually happier exploring, and trying in my attempting to listen to other ideas, particularly when they appear disagreeable to my very own held beliefs and belief systems. I'm not the kind or sort of a person who's terribly close minded, and fastly so stubborn in my own thinking and ideas!
100
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
Well, I understand where folks are coming from. I like to explore, in my own feeble way , to attempting and realizing where my own ideas are - where they ultimately lie. And I'm open to being taught and educated, by honestly listening and contemplating others points of view. But why all the hate?!
100
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 29/12/2024
Well, perhaps MAGA has its flaws, just like many, many others of organizations of sorts and types always do... But what makes you think that all of us that want America to be the great nation that once was, are involved in a Nazi fascist organization of sorts. Because none of my associates are...

I always thought that Y2K was a scare tactic about something that never transpired or manifested itself. And you're saying it was a real threat and an historical fact?
100
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 28/12/2024
I chose to identify with the concept of MAGA, not all of the hooplala and prejudice that's been associated with the movement, because of a certain number of involvements by crazied persons.
000
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 28/12/2024
MAGA is a much broader term than limiting it to people involved in the birther movement, which was admittedly a crazy notion of a belief!
200
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 28/12/2024
A small number of racists and fascists are MAGA people. Most of us, the larger vast majority, are just pretty normal folks. I know that this is true, because out of roughly better than half the number of Americans who voted did so because of certain convictions not because they're racist fascists

Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 28/12/2024
No, I don't believe that my party affiliation is something likened to commiting a criminal act! I voted the way I did for some of the very same reasons that many Democrats did.
100
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 28/12/2024
That's fine. But I shouldn't have probably been "over here" to beginning with!

Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 28/12/2024
I'm not opposed to true trans people using a public restroom of their choosing. And yes, I would stick up for a person who wanted to use the appropriate restroom for their selves.

Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 28/12/2024
My wife had an ectopic pregnancy, and we naturally had the procedure done to ensure my wife lived. I'm not sure that I know of anyone personally that would have chosen differently.

Then so are 73 million other Americans traitors, in your mind's book!
000
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 28/12/2024
You're a Democrat and I'm a Republican. I don't question yours or anyone else's party affiliation, so what makes you think you can question mine? Your party has made a lot of blunders and has been blinded to many things that went on regarding circumstances that could've been handled differently.

Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 28/12/2024
I don't think so...

He surely wasn't a perfect man. Nor, was he a perfect President either. But Ronald Regan was a great man. A good American. And a great President, in the top 10 of all former Presidents.

I am at large of that group. But I voted for President Trump, because I felt he was the better choice over the other side, flaws and all or not!
100
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 28/12/2024
Presidents pardoning people whom they do is an axiom of the office! Look at what Joe Biden has pardoned, including his own son!! So, I don't judge President Biden harshly for his pardons. Regarding his own son, I would've pardoned him too!!! Because he's a Father and a flawed human being is all ok.
100
Mark Raymond Courterier @courterier.bsky.social · 28/12/2024
And so are 73 million other people who voted for him, then?! He won with a mandate. The people spoke and things are what they are. It is what it is. And you can call me everything in the proverbial book if you want or care to. But I don't take a personal afront or issue onto myself. I'm ok who I am.
