If someone starts name-calling, they either have no point relevant to the conversation, they are trolling, or ... 🤷‍♂️🤣 At that point, you are welcome move along.

People have the same opportunity to agree or not agree to terms of a contract. I shouldn't have to pay for something you contracted for that you now decide you don't want to pa, though you got your benefit. 🤷‍♂️ BTW, your response is your response and not to be blamed on any group. ;)

If you think you are right about every issue and that anyone disagreeing with you is a liar or stupid, you are likely the problem. One should question their position harder and with as much rigor as used when questioning that of others.

No, I simply take responsibility for my actions. You don't even know me, and you are willing to say I'm a liar just to not have to admit reasonable people can disagree on an issue? Think I am done. Hope you have a nice day...

I don't consider entering into a loan a mistake for which I'd say others need to be responsible. I think I'd admit my mistake and work to fix it.

No. I expect people to plan for their future and not make bad decisions and then expect others to bail them out. What can be done? This: 57.7% of medical school graduates intend to pursue federal loan forgiveness, with 88.9% targeting the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. ✔️

@sanders.senate.gov draft a bill allowing folk with student loans to get some or all of their student loans paid/dismissed if they serve? Non profits, needy areas? Expand current options? It would garner more support than a blanket discharge and provide service to those in need.

counselore.bsky.social @counselore.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Neither really, but you may certainly feel otherwise. I disagree with a blanket forgiveness and would seek to provide help for more than just the individual with the debt. I wish you well.

counselore.bsky.social @counselore.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
I agree. Yet, I made suggestions: 1. Service in needy areas (rural); & 2. Serve those in need (poor/oppressed) through a nonprofit and agree to write off some or all debt for said service. That helps two groups rather than just one. It seems everyone is just saying, "No, just forgive the debt!"

My initial point was only that a board may need business folk, a finance person, a lawyer, a cpa, etc and they don't need to be focused on the arts to serve well. I made no statement about any currently serving member. 🤷‍♂️
200
counselore.bsky.social @counselore.bsky.social · 16/09/2026
Yes. So, give them options of working in areas with need (rural areas) or to serve those in need (the poor) in a nonprofit and agree to write off some for said service. Two birds, one stone. A blanket write-off does less.for society, I think.

I am happy to fix the situation and have suggested limits on interest rates etc. I just don't think blamket forgiveness is the answer. Make one work in a needy area or to serve those in need and agree to write off so much for said service. The idea of holding nobody to a promise gets us what?

It likely won't be a significant amount per month for any of them. We don't suggest to forgive corporate debt so companies can spend more to help the economy. Maybe those individuals will save the money? 🤷‍♂️ I am happy to disagree and think reasonable people can do so.

I find that most people who I engage with, even if we disagree on issues, have points to make that I understand and may support (to some degree or completely). Enjoy the conversation, and make sure our own position is solid and not based on feelings or bias, as best we can.

It is okay to be wrong. Nobody knows everything. Not even Neil Degrassi Tyson: youtube.com/shorts/7OwwJ... That is a good lesson on how to be wrong, get facts, admit you were wrong, be excited to learn, and not be shamed that you didn't know something. ✔️👍

People who disagree with you on some issues are not necessarily evil or bad. We could remember that on social media. I don't know anyone who agrees with every position I have. Yet, we can get along with many people and acquaintances, all across the political spectrum.

Yes, that does suck. I fully support a limit on interest rates on credit cards and student loans, those primarily keep the poor, well, poor. We can likely get more support for that than we can for total forgiveness for anyone.

Pass laws limiting interest rates (South Korea did). There are avenues for students with debt to get the feds to forgive federal student loans. It isn't as if the 18 year olds signing the documents aren't able to do the math. 🤷‍♂️ Avoid private loans, pick a less expensive school, ...

Apparently it is really easy to get student loans. People graduating with $100k in debt in a field with low earnings... I'd love to find a better way, such as the the government forgiving federal debt with service in needed areas or with certain organizations. There are options.

It is a first world problem and some entitlement, affecting many lower salary workers who need the work, to not work in protest of something, even if important. www.pbs.org/newshour/art... I'd rather they not impact honest non-rich folk and find a way to still protest.
