*boilk* what a truly disgusting day of football results. I need to get clean.

I just burst into tears when we scored, uncontrollable. When the final whistle went my body was literally convulsing, my heart was beating out of my chest and I honestly thought I was going to be sick.

100%. The bad faith nature of his ‘argument’ summed up by the fact he refused to answer if it was a foul or not when asked “Isn’t the important thing that this decision was the right one?”, instead bringing up other incidents that weren’t called as fouls.

There isn’t a crowd in the world that will get (and remain) fully enthused and loud while watching football with that level of passivity and lack of ambition.

Yep, I haven’t looked it up but that’s what my head tells me. It’s chalk and cheese compared to the team that was pipped to the title twice by City. We needed to find a better balance but have gone too far the other way IMO.

It wasn’t a performance worthy of champions and I’m not sure we’ve had one of those all season if I’m honest. Like, a statement win. I can’t think of any. Leeds away was a pressure win, but not really a statement.

Great column, Tim. Two stats I think relate: (1) In 26 PL games Arsenal have only scored in the first 20 mins of 4 of them. Appreciate 20 mins is arbitrary but it says something for me. (2) Per 90 mins this season, Arsenal have only been more than 1 goal ahead for an average of 13 mins per game.

Arsenal have played 2070 mins so far this season (minus injury time) and have only been more than 1 goal ahead for 271 of those. Leeds (h) 45 mins; Forest (h) 44; West Ham (h) 23; Burnley (a) 55; Spurs (h) 49; Brighton (h) 12; Villa (h) 38; B’mouth (a) 5. #arsecastextra

“Tiresome talking about referees” says @23carra.bsky.social. I agree. What time is Ref Watch on tomorrow ? Mike Dean on soccer Saturday next week? The Howard Webb show? Is Howard back on the otherwise wonderful ‘Stick to Football’ again anytime soon? Tiresome.

When the furore comes (hopefully) over how terrible that Michael Oliver red card decision was today - and then only a yellow for Joao Gomes for a much worse foul later - it will be instructive to look at who defended it in the immediate aftermath. #Arsenal

Apparently Mike Dean did, but you know…

For balance, Arsenal have been shite from pretty much start to finish. But when refs do stuff like Michael Oliver has just done and there isn’t uproar from the ‘independent’ people watching it, we might as well all give up with PL football.

Totally. And now, after the David Coote stuff, no one can credibly deny that refs have it in for certain teams/managers. This particular bias is so obvious. The gaslighting about studs down the ankle is shameful.
