- we even had to ship 3.5.1 with just QuickJS because RHEL/Alma 10 doesn’t do SM anymore at all. QuickJS is smaller, faster, lower memory footprint and we made it safe to migrate.

We’ve lost a lot of developer hours to the fact that SpiderMonkey is fundamentally a JS engine for Firefox and not really set up to be a library. - we had to keep up with minute API changes across major versions - we have to support a wide range of versions due to spotty OS package support
