I think it’s a western studio. Looks very outside Nintendo’s wheelhouse

We would have a utopia if the gamers could distinguish "I don't like this" from "this is objectively bad"

Oh wow we’re at the end. Getting DK coin was probably the biggest surprise lol

THIS IS NOT A DRILL Donkey Kong Land got a remake! Kazquez remade all the DKL levels with new sprites, music and level design while still feeling really familiar with the source material. Check it out: www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-i3...

POV: You're working a 100% commission-based sales job and Nintendo tells you to sell monkey game Donkey Kong grossed $111 million in FY 1982, a big jump from $4.7 million from the year prior

NO WAY!! Huge win for Nintendo, what a nice end to the Donkey Kong Freedom story

071

cottrello.bsky.social @cottrello.bsky.social · 10/05/2026

not sure what code they used, but as a product it’s presented as a remaster- Nintendo usually uses terms like HD, 3D etc My understanding of the term remaster is coming from how the Crash N Sane trilogy or Christian Whitehead’s Sonic CD are described You could also technically call those remakes

cottrello.bsky.social @cottrello.bsky.social · 08/05/2026

You didn’t seem mean or anything, I just wanted to clarify I’m not dunking on the new game. I’m excited to play it That budget price too 👀👀

I’m gonna buy and enjoy it but would have preferred a new Setting I consider 64 a 10/10 perfect game, i dont think it’s lacking anything.

010

cottrello.bsky.social @cottrello.bsky.social · 08/05/2026

Theres a chunk of Starfox fans who would have preferred a new setting and plot I’m not saying they’re all the same game, I’m saying they’re all the Lylat Wars plot going from Corneria to Venom to fight Andross. 5th time in the same story, 3rd time in the same stages

cottrello.bsky.social @cottrello.bsky.social · 08/05/2026

I don't know sales numbers but they got exclusive merchandise, Donkey Konga 3, a better version of DK Land 3 and a whole TCG Bananza feels catered to a Japanese audience too, I'm puzzled

030

cottrello.bsky.social @cottrello.bsky.social · 08/05/2026

Interesting- I wonder why Donkey Kong Bananza isn't taking off in Japan.

Nintendo has completed the infinity gauntlet of going back to a game. We have now the perfect guide for if a game is a remaster, remake etc. I present the Starfox Scale.

A graphic detailing how many times the original Lylat Wars story and setting of Starfox has been revisited, and in what way. We go from the SNES original, to the 64 Reboot. The 64 game was remastered for the 3DS, reimagined on the Wii U, and remade on the Switch 2.

030

cottrello.bsky.social @cottrello.bsky.social · 20/03/2026

How many copies do you think Capcom needs to sell on Switch 2 to consider it worth the trouble for a day 1 release on the system?
